    Day One at Camp

We made it!! Arrived in time for afternoon session Sunday July 25th.

we left early in the morning and stopped at the Dells for a little adult gaming. We left a couple hundred ahead...nice start to a vacation!

Arrived to camp about a hour early, and let me tell you...camp is in the middle of no where and then 5 miles past that! But Mequon laid out the red carpet for us fans! The entire town is decorated in Blue and gold. The people at the college loved the fans..and you could tell from the moment you pulled in the lot.

We got there an hour early...good thing 'cause players were heading to the field. Every player, security officer, fan, and joe shmo were as classy as it gets. My wife and I got TONS of autographs and pictures...everyone was all class...no one was an ass.

We got our fill of autographs, talks and pics and started towards the practice area. We got to the gate area and found SHULLY'S had this AWESOME hospitality area. For and mere $15.00, we got all the drink and food we could eat and be right in the middle of all the action....needless to say my wallet open....and drank my $15.OO in the first 30 minutes. We ended up with prime seats and one of the best Rams experiences I have ever had!

    Rams practice....

Everyone looked focus and WELL ahead of schedule to hit fields. First was walk throughs and nothing stood out. They then broke into groups. and few of the highlights...

    * Setterstrom looks like his knee is really bothering him. He said after practice that he is having some issues...but not enough to keep him down. He ran all first string with a noticeable limp.

    * Bulger and Green were right on the mark with all there throws. The rest of the group was pretty scary.

    * Holt snuck in to practice area and almost seemed uninterested in team doings. He looked focused on the field, but removed from the "team".

    * Cogs and Romberg are battling at center. Talking to Cogs after practice, he seemed pretty confident on his role.

    * Long looked average on one on one drills. Nothing stood out. He and Carriker got barked at a couple of times.

    * Pace looked hungry. Hard to explain...but looked like he was willing to 110%...even though it might be possible...good sign.

    * Hall is tiny. I was shocked...so was everyone else I talked to.

Next everyone combined on the main field. First time was spent on special teams kicking. Both field goal unit and field goal block teams were out there. Block team was using soccer balls to go through the motions. The kick team did the real thing. Brown looked good...but Medlock in the one that hit the 60 yarder, while Browns went wide right.

*Green looked really sharp as they are ran full teams up and down the field. Bulger looked above average and didn't miss either.

*McMichael was a huge standout throughout practice. He looks like he has something to prove.

    * Klopenstein was terrible. Dropped several passes and doesn't look he might even make the team. Not sure if he is going to make it.

    * You really can see the lake of depth at running back. Not having Jackson is going to limit a lot of things. Pittman looked average....and th

They ran a lot of end arounds and half back passes with that set...we need Jackson to be effective. Bottom Line.

I got to run...this is hard to type on a 3x4 screen. I will let you all know what happens tomorrow.

    P.S.

I have been to several training camps in the past...this by far is the best time I have ever had. Mequon, Concordia, and Shully's have all gone way out of their ways to make us fans at home. A+ them, I am so looking forward to tomorrow.

Totally awesome. I appreciate the info on the camp. You are one lucky person. Please continue to update and let us know of any Jackson sightings.

Nice, very, very nice to read about TC facilities / good people. Thanks Weaith (and I hope you're wrong about Klop).

Wow sounds great. I'm sure I'm not the only one that really appreciates it. It's always fantastic to hear some fan reports from the practices, the professional writers often seem to leave out things, especially players that aren't doing so well, understandable perhaps but as a fan I want to hear it all unfiltered.

Wish I was there myself. Thanks for the report!

Everywhere I have read reports I continue to see that Long has been basically controlled by Pace and they are putting him against second teamers (Goldberg) to get his confidence up. I know it's his rookie season and this won't be an issue later on, but I would've hoped he could use his great hands and speed to atleast give Orlando some trouble. He is giving up more than 100 lbs. to his opponent so he should be able to use his speed better than he has thus far.

Wish I could have made it, thanks for the update!

Last year I remember Klop missing several blocks, and thought the only reason he is still around is because he has been able to catch the ball. If he can't do that now, there is no need for him.
Glad Green is looking sharp. I'm hoping Bulger can last the whole season and play well, but I'm worried about him since he's been hurt the past few years (a bad O-line sure didn't help), so a good backup is needed.

    Re: Day One at Camp

Up early so I thought I would make a couple more notes.

The people here have been first class all the way. The whole camp is 10 times that of Macomb, at least for a fan. For the $15 we were in this awesome tent and placed right in the middle of he action. Just as close as all the media people. This tent was Shully's and they did all the catering.

Couple notes I remembered while lying in bed

*Met Chris Long after practice, he was nice enough for a picture. The guy is chiseled but not huge. Surprised me...I hope his size will not be an issue. I remember so many concerns with Little too.

*Pisa looked as trim as I have ever seen him. He almost looked small(er)

*Pace even signed autographs after practice, havent ever seen that before at camp.

*Atogwa looked much bigger and was dressed in this crazy sweat suit outfit over hit pads that looked hot as Hades.

*Danta Hall is as small as it comes to NFL players. Many fan comments about that in the stands. Especially non-Ram fans...not knowing who he was.

*Got my picture with OJ, Bulger, Long, Little and Hill.

*We estimated about 500 people at the session.

*There is a HUGE trailer brought in loaded with every possible Ram thing you can buy on the site and then some. Needles to say I dumped my casino winnings to the Blue and Gold attire.

I am off to morning practice. Again, if you are thinking about making this trip...well worth the time and money. I really hope they sign a long term deal with Concordia, because for being kind of a last minute deal in the scheme of things, they really have put on a nice spread for the fans.
