The Dead Zone
These 5 or 6 weeks between OTA's and Training Camp seem to be very interesting around here. The imagination of some of our posters during this period will be fun to watch. We'll have some very optimistic kool aid drinkers and then we will have some like me who tend to be like Randy Quaid in the first Major League movie. Well, I'm not that bad but some tend to think so.
Anyway, just wanted to wish everyone a great Dead Zone vacation because other than rookie signings and our ownership situation, this one may be the deadest dead zone in years. Nothing on the FA horizon. Nothing on waivers that I can see. Nothing to do but either get more physical or get in trouble.
Let's hope we get more physical.
Oh, enjoy the World Cup while we are in this period.

Re: The Dead Zone
I agree that waiting for news regarding the business side of the team, whether it be the signing of the rookies, FAs (Atogwe, Westbrook are still possibilities), the Supplemental Draft (Unga?) and the sale of the team is somewhat less than scintillating.
For me, the NBA Draft, followed by the free agency period (starts July 1) will fill the time nicely, given that I'm a Miami Heat fan and they are among the teams likely to be very active in reshaping their roster.
Not a big fan of the World Cup. Nothing against it, I just don't really follow the sport.
I've pretty much given up on MLB. Between steroids, too many late night games, and the monotony of the "haves" vs. the "have nots," I just drifted away (I was once a diehard Baltimore Orioles fan, which also might have something to do with it, as Peter Angelos destroyed the team... but I digress).
Otherwise, I'm just recharging the old batteries. While I'm going to hold off on formal predictions for the time being, I will say that I am starting to become a bit more optimistic.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: The Dead Zone
This is project season for me. I'll do baseball as a last resort, watch the cup and maybe some NASCAR too, but mostly its get stuff done before the season starts. This year its paint the eaves, mount the flat screen in the bedroom and maybe paint the shed. The goal is to be done by August and strap into the couch!

Re: The Dead Zone
This is my last summer at home. Heading to the military on August 3rd for Basic (right in the eve of training camp >
..) and getting in shape for that now. Soccer is extremely boring to me, along with baseball, and basketball season is now over (albeit on a high note...LAAAKERS!).
Nothing to do now but speculate on our prospects for the upcoming season and pick my nose..

Re: The Dead Zone
Do lots of cardio, running, sprints, jumping jacks, that kind of stuff. Be ready for someone to get right in your face and scream. Remember the DS cannot hit you, only make you do calisthenics. Nothing in Basic is hard. You will be taught on the third grade level so don’t get worried about it. The gas chamber is made to scare you so don’t let it. You just cough a lot that’s all. It burns but no worse than a sun burn. Remember, its nine weeks and then graduation. Don’t let hell week get you down.

Re: The Dead Zone
I was looking forward to a smackdown for back talking too

Thanks man. Luckily I've had multiple family members and friends run through basic training in almost every branch except the Navy. I'm heading to the Army btw. I've been running fairly consistently so its coming together (that pizza I had didn't help however).
