Deepest position in the history of the Rams-Wide Receiver
The all time rams list of wide receivers is tough. Its the position at which the rams have the most current (and future hall of famers). This is also a brutal one to compare eras, but again, my criteria is dominance in an era, rather than overall comparisons of size and speed etc.
Starters. Incredibly tough call here, but i will go with Isaac Bruce and Crazylegs Hirsch. I wont refer to them as backups, but Torry Holt and Tom Fears are very very close behind. THe next guy would be Jim Benton a member of the all decade team in the 1940's and potentially the best player who is currently eligible and not in the hall of fame for some crazy reason. At the time of his retirement, Benton was the second greatest receiver ever, behind only Don Hutson of the packers. He was a critical guy on the 1945 Rams title team.
The sixth and final wide receiver spot is really really tough. On balance, i am going to go with Henry Ellard based on his punt returning skills, just ahead of Jack Snow, Jim Philips and Del Shofner. When i do the final final roster of 53 guys, i am not sure that i will have a spot for a 6th receiver anyway, but for now, i am going to include ellard and may ultimately do away with specialty guys (like a specific punt and kickoff returner, which may help me include leroy irvin in the secondary, who along with ellard, would give me another punt returner)

Again I think you nailed it down with this one... Never heard of Benton but will have to start looking him up now and root for him to get in the Hall next year...

No way Henry Ellard doesn't get on this team. He led the Rams in receiving 9 TIMES. He's one of the most underrated guys ever with more than 13,000 yards receiving. With Bruce, Holt, Fears, Hirsch, Snow, etc. there's no shortage of excellent candidates here. But Henry Ellard is right there with them.

I'd take Henry Ellard and Harold Jackson. Jackson was the big play guy in the '70s.

I really should have put Jackson in the honorable mention category. YOu made an excellent call on that one. He is one of my favorites also.

I'd put Holt as a starter. He had a 6 year span as good as any receiver in NFL history.

What, no love for Billy Waddy? He made a critical catch for us in a playoff game in 1979 (I believe) that won the game for us against Dallas the year we went to SB XIV.
Don't forget Preston Dennard (LOL)
Go Rams!
