Defense 2007 = Defense 2000???? Maybe
Our pass rush is non-existent outside of Little and Hall won't really provide much help. Hall had something like 5 sacks last year but 3 came against one team (Bills). Stopping the run hasn't changed as we go into the season with Glover and Wroten at the DT's, Kennedy needs to sell popcorn where binoculars to see the game are warranted.
Our LB's are serviceable but they are a little small and really don't keep OC's up late at night worrying about their coverage skills. Pisa plays hard but he misses on quite a few tackles, Spoon is good but somewhat undersized and Chillar is adequate but teams don't run away from his side.
The secondary is still a mystery. Gone are Butler and Fisher, which too many is an immediate improvement. Hill should get better but which Bartell will come out and play this year? The one who started the season or the one who finished it?
The Rams went heavy offensively in this years FA market which really didn't surprise me much. It's what puts behinds in the seats at the ED. However, the Rams better NEVER send the punter out on the field or that is just a loss waiting to happen because with this defense as it is now, the Rams won't stop Hazelwood Central much less the Seahawks.

That still doesn't solve the fact that most WR's in the league when lined up against the Rams will be open before the ball is snapped.

Re: Defense 2007 = Defense 2000???? Maybe
I agree on some of your points Tx. Bernie was saying some of the same things in the St louis Post. I notice that some of the reponse to Bernie was that teams need to build there defense through the draft. We have not had allot of luck in that ie Kenndey, Lewis. I don't want the Rams to overpay for marginal players, but if anybody thinks that this defense is going to be any better than last year defense as it stands now, they are crazy. The rams need to bring in some more F.A. do something. Standing fast is not the answer.

Right NOW, things don't look very promising but we're far from done. For whatever reason, things didn't work out with signing any proven difference makers so we'll just have to reload and find some answers from the second tier of FA's, possible trade opportunities and the draft.

Re: Defense 2007 = Defense 2000???? Maybe
The regular season doesn't start in the second week of March, so I'm not pushing the panic button just yet. There's still a number of opportunities for the Rams to add to their defense. If we're having these kinds of discussions in May, then perhaps we should be more concerned.
