Despite Broken Finger, Jackson Vows To Play Sunday

Despite broken finger, Jackson vows to play Sunday

    By BILL COATS
    Thursday, October 28, 2010

Despite undergoing surgery Monday to repair a broken finger, St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson promises that he'll be ready to go Sunday, when the Panthers come to town.

"I will definitely be out there Sunday," Jackson said Thursday. "It's unfortunate that it had to happen, but it's on the left hand. So it's not as big a deal as if it was on my right hand."

Jackson fractured the right finger last Sunday at Tampa Bay. He said he doesn't know when the injury occurred.

Jackson hasn't practiced this week, but he's been experimenting with various protective devices for the hand.

"It'll be some sort of a soft cast to protect the ring finger," he said. "Something that's functional and will allow to carry the ball, catch the ball, hold the ball."

It doesn't suprise me at all either. Jackson is a warrior, who'll sacrifice anything for his team. Hard to believe a few short years ago, people were grumbling about his lack of toughness.

Jackson might not be the greatest Ram to ever play (yet). But boy he got heart!

Week in and week out he is giving it 110% for the team. Even during the last 3 years where most of the games have been without a winning chance he has played through pain and tried his best to win for the team.

Never does he whine on twitter or in the media that he should be trader to a contender! Always focusing on the next game that he always see as a potential win!

He is a true warrior, a true leader, A TRUE RAM!

I really hope that he stays a Ram for the rest of his career!

truly commendable. i remember faulk had broke his thumb vs the squawks and was out a few games. I just hope heart doesn't get in the way of what is best for the team because in this league you must hold on to the ball real tight because every defensive player is opportunistic. at any rate I hope he has a monster game!

Re: Despite Broken Finger, Jackson Vows To Play Sunday

I like the rest of his quote I got from a Fantasy Football email:

"Absolutely, I will definitely be out there Sunday," said Jackson, who had two pins inserted into the finger. "The surgery went fine. Everything went well. It's unfortunate it had to happen. It's on the left hand so it's not a big deal as if it was my right hand."

The pins will be in his hand for six to eight weeks. Jackson did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He said he may work out Friday.

"I don't see why not," Jackson said about practicing Friday. "First thing, we want to make sure infection doesn't happen. Pain is going to occur. That's something we're not trying to avoid. That's not something going we're thinking won't happen. Pain will be part of the game Sunday."
Feel sorry for our opponent. Wait, not really...

I had no doubt whatsoever that he would be out there. Just another on the long list of reasons why he is what he is - THE Beast

You have to admire such raw determination. Jackson wants to win right now and not wait until next year, I wish the people in charge felt the same way.
