Devaney: Barron at LT, Bell at RT ... for now
Devaney: Barron at LT, Bell at RT ... for now

Rams general manager Billy Devaney was interviewed by KSLG (1380 AM) today after the team released Orlando Pace. Highlights of the conversation:
* Alex Barron will be moved from right tackle to left tackle immediately.
* Rams will take a long look at Jacob Bell, last season's starting left guard, as the right tackle. Such a move would open a starting spot at LG for John Greco.
* Asked if Bell is big enough to play right tackle, Devaney replied: "We hope so."
* Pace's release does not mean the team will zero in on an offensive tackle with the No. 2 overall draft pick. "We have a lot of holes and we still have the luxury of being able to pick the highest-rated player at No. 2."
* On Torry Holt: "We're in a holding pattern. But we will have to make a decision in a couple of days regarding Torry."
* Asked if there was any trade interest in Holt, Devaney said: "Torry is still on our roster. I'd rather not talk about the specific interest."
* Rams have "strong interest" in signing Gus Frerotte as the backup quarterback. Devaney noted that Frerotte was 8-2 as a starter for Minnesota and knows the terminology of the team's new offense.
* Bottom line on Pace's release: "We're at the point now where we just think we're laying the foundation going forward. It was the right time."

If the line changes work, then I have no complaints. But I don't think it will....

I think this is a re-post. I remember someone else posting this, well, a week ago.

Sounds to me like we are going with Curry at number2. At least it sounds like we are definitely not going with an OT.
* Asked if Bell is big enough to play right tackle, Devaney replied: "We hope so."

Re: Devaney: Barron at LT, Bell at RT ... for now
Why let Pace go if this is what your going to do this with the o-line? Why not let Pace keep the 6 mil and keep these guys at their positions. I can understand trying to move Barron but moving Bell to rt scares me. I mean how long is it going to take this group to gel after getting shuffled around? The leader of the o-line is gone and now we are playing musical chairs with the positions. Hey let's move Brown to guard and Incognito to center and Carriker to right guard. Seems to me we created an extra hole by releasing Pace just to save 6 mil. I hope whoever we draft whenever we draft him for the o-line comes NFL ready right away. Either that or we better find some veteran help ala free agency for this o-line because adding Brown and releasing Pace did not fix this o-line. This just scares me.
Just Fix It
