    Did they give up?

Don't know if you watched the players to see if any gave up. I tried but it's next to impossible to do on TV. I saw a lot of heart by some of the guys (mis-tackling isn't a lack of effort) and I saw a lot of idiotic mistakes. Alex Barron appears (in my mind) to have given up about 4-5 games ago. He looks absolutely horrible.

Most of the team didnt give up IMO, alot of people played to the end. But some did, bartell looked like he just stopped caring. Barron was out of it since the start. Just what i saw.

not the o-time pro bowler and highly over paid Ron Bartell,he wouldn't give up,he's the best out there according to some.

I don't think the team gave up, I think this team doesn't know how to get out of practice mode and into game mode. I know that sounds weird but they look like they just go through the motions out there, like it's a Wed practice instead of a Sun game. Does anyone else notice this?

    Re: Did they give up?

No, I was live at the game, and the team absolutely did not give up. May there be one or two guys that have? Absolutely, but as a whole, this team is fighting hard ...

Rushing wise, we held Chris Johnson to one of his worst games of the season, and a big bulk of his yards came on one big run. There were some players out there playing with incredible intensity, i.e ... CLIFTON RYAN. Big man is turning into a good one ...

RI, what else did you see at the game that can give us a glimmer of hope because watching it on tv made most of us want to throw up.

I am going to post a very throughouh analysis of what I saw this game and how it translates to season. Inferior coaching on our side is what I saw as most pravalent, this becoming a trend. Most noticable on defense. We have a dominant three and out series, then we cannot stop anything. This happens all the time ...

Players that are busting their tails, but schemes that are doomed from the get go ...

Absolutely clueless coaching. Often I saw almost every Titan player locked up thinking it was going to be a sure incomplete pass or loss, only to see a tight end standing WIDE open on the other side of the field, or what we saw with Johnson's huge TD on the screen ...

Many times I saw gaps with no one assigned to them. No, not missed gaps, gaps without assignments ....

I saw the combo of Cliff Ryan and Dorrell Scott causing some serious damage on the interior. Johnson had little or no success running inside. Those two dudes mean business and are only going to get better and better. Need a big body compliment inside ...

Pass coverage schemes are HORRID. And I mean HORRID. We play a pathetically soft zone, and fundamentally our CB's are terrible. Never been more dissapointed in a player as I am in Bartell. Our CB's have ZERO INT's this season. Doubt that has ever happened in NFL history. This is on the coaching, not the talent ...

We have no pass rush. And I mean NO pass rush ...

Our ST units as a whole, easily one of the top 10 in the NFL. Unbelievably dedicated and disciplined unit ...

Keith Null looks like a pro style QB. He has command of the offense, stands in the pocket upright and confidence. He moves around well. Has a nice strong arm, fairly accurate. The game is just moving too fast for him right now. He is far from a lost cause in my opinion. That TD pass was a SUPERB throw. It would be a terrible shame if they don't let him start the last three games to see if mentally he can catch up to his physical talent ...

Brandon Gibson snatches the ball out of the air as well as any young receiver I've seen. Coaches have ZERO clue how to use Avery ...

I really think Kenneth Darby still has potential as a 3rd back here. He is quick, catches the ball well, is a great ST player, and a smart kid. They need to shut Jackson down. He has a herniated disc, and he's just worn out. We need a backup RB who is a real burner ...

    J. Lau is very solid, always around the ball. He'll get better and better. We desparately need a fast, rangy LB to compliment him ...

We hardly ever blitz, and when we do, it is very vanilla. Worse than Haslett's scheme, IMO, in that regard ...

    All for now ...

    Re: Did they give up?

This is a shell shocked team that does not know how to win. Many never give up, but some seem to just go through the motions. It is what it is right now. This season will mercilessly end soon. The staff can go back and look over the roster and see who cares and who does not. Those that keep fighting will find themselves on the roster. Those that don't will be gone...

Rams Infiniti - I agree, no doubt. The 2009 Rams are an absolute joke schematicly.
Teams with a new staff should at least show signs of improvement in December.
This team isnt buying into the Spags way as of now, which doesnt bode well for the future. Bring back Hasslett- all is forgiven.

    In terms of quitting...

I have no inside information, nor am I medically qualified to say this, but my gut tells me that Kyle Boller would have played if the Rams were fighting for a playoff spot. Just a hunch.

Absolutely agreed with this. This situation gave the Ram coaching staff an opportunity to throw Null into the fire, with an excuse to do so, and they did it. I am sure they have wanted this to happen for a few games now ...

Boller, albeit a bit mechanical as always, looked fine in warmups, for what it is worth ...

    Re: Did they give up?

Hmm, did they give up? Hard to say, but I feel certain there was some of both. I think the O-line had a pretty good game actually. Null drops back 43 times and is only sacked once?! That's pretty good, fellas.

And I'm not sure why Barron is getting bashed; he actually played well yesterday. On the flip side, it seems painfully obviously that Cogs has mentally checked out.

The receiving corp made some good catches, and not in the best of situations. Null did an admirable job jumping from D-II to NFL, but he didn't exactly hit receivers center mass. Gibson, Amendola, McMichael, Fells.......all made some tough catches that wouldn't have been made had they given up.

On defense, the interior gave no reason to think they gave up. J-Lau, Ryan, Scott, Dahl.....all played tough.

It was a bad, bad loss; and I'm certain a portion of the roster is ready to mail it in, but there are still bright spots out there to hang a hat on.
