    Do we draft 2 or 3 ?

I was told the Pats will have the niners pick this year at #2. I thought we were at # 2 And does anyone think the Glen Dorsey next to Carriker might make for one hell of a D-Line? Glover needs to be replaced right?

We have the #2 pick. Clifton Ryan will hopefully replace Glover.

We have the 2nd pick. The Patriots have the Niners pick, which is #8.

Ryan is a NT. Glover is a UT. At this point, Carriker is replacing Glover (or splitting time with him while also playing some NT and DE).

If the Rams were to take Dorsey, it would likely mean that they want Carriker to move back to DE, which was his primary college position, which would mean the DL would be:

    DE Little
    NT Ryan
    UT Dorsey
    DE Carriker

Certainly a possibility, but I prefer the option of keeping Carriker at UT and taking a DE (Chris Long or Vernon Gholston) who can potentially be an impact pass rusher.

I think the Pats got the #7, don't they?

I don't want Dorsey. He already has back problems. That raises a huge red flag for me personally. I have had back issues for years, and I would take a pass on him, especially that high.

Agreed 1000%. Drafting Dorsey either creates a log jam rotation at UT between he and Carriker, or the team is admitting they wasted a year of Carriker's development trying to fit him at DT only to move him to DE. The intention of drafting Carriker from day one though has been to play him inside at tackle, so I don't see the team going after Dorsey. I don't see the Rams going for any DT in round one to be honest, but if they were going to make that positional pick, Sedrick Ellis makes more sense as he has three years of experience as a nose tackle at USC and would play alongisde UT Carriker. But again, don't see that happening either.

DE Carriker vs Chris Long... How many sacks does Long get in his rookie year? How many would AC get if he play DE?

It's difficult to get too many good Def Lineman, but a DT already having back issues in college, one has to wonder how long of a career in the Pros he'll have with the beating they take.

Carriker should not play Nose and I have to question the time he spent at that position.

hmmm...youre right. maybe dorsey would be a bad choice because of back problems. i still think chris long would be the right choice seeming how Carriker could stay where he already is.

Re: Do we draft 2 or 3 ?

but look at dorsey's numbers when he's playing against the rugged SEC... there pretty solid numbers. He's all conference, all america, pretty much all everything in college... These sort of DT's do not come very often.

And to me Chris Long just seems like another Justin Smith from the Bengals... hopefully i'm wrong but thats just my opinion

Re: Do we draft 2 or 3 ?

I have not followed the draft at all yet, but this team desperately needs a play maker at WR or CORNER.. Dorsey would be worth a look because he could be a real play maker on that defensive line, but our corners were problems. If we can't some better corners via free agency, then it's gotta be in the draft with someone who can start from day one.

If I were the Rams I'd look at trading down (if needed) to get Malcolm Jenkins. Maybe they could get ANOTHER first round pick out of it and draft either a big time WR or OL/DL.
