    Re: Do You Know ? ? ?

Rosey Grier was the last to join the original Foursome and he came from the Giants.

Brown came to the Rams from Detroit after Rosey blew out his Achilles in '67.

First to record 20 sacks after sacks were considered an official NFL stat was Lawrence Taylor (I think).

Of course, Deacon blew them all away with 26 in '67.

    Re: Do You Know ? ? ?

(1.) Caroll Rosenbloom Was Owner Of Baltimore Colts, Basically Traded Franchises Between The Los Angeles Rams, Owned By Robert Irsay.
So, Caroll Rosenbloom (Husband Of Georgia Rosenbloom/now Frontiere) Became Owner Of The Los Angeles Rams, Before The 1973 Season Began.
*( It Was At This Time The Rams Went From Blue & White Uniforms To Blue & Gold.)

    (2.) David "Deacon" Jones

    (3.) Roosie Grier, 1964

I know Marc Gastineau had more than 20 sacks in a season, but I'm not sure if he was the first.

    Re: Do You Know ? ? ?

    Agree with Dgr's response.

    1) Irsay traded the Rams to Rosenbloom for the Colts.
    2) David Deacon Jones who basically invented/catalyst for the sack as a statistic.
    3) Grier; however, Roger Brown was still considered a member of the Fearsome Foursome.

1973 was a terrific year. Rosenbloom picked up the Rams from Irsay for the Colts. Then Chuck 'Chuck Who?' Knox was hired to coach. John Hadl came from Green Bay to QB as Gabriel was shipped to Philadelphia (haven for ex Rams QB's: Van Brocklin and much later, Ron Jaworski were sent there by the Rams; one of the worst moves, getting rid of Jaworski in favor of James Harris and then Pat Haden as QBs). Then the Rams got in the Gabriel Trade a super wide reciever named Harold Jackson. The wideouts thus were Jack Snow and Harold Jackson. The defense was remade with Deacon Jones moving to San Diego (later he played for the Skins), Jack Youngblood stepped in as his replacement with his linemates as Merlin Olsen, Larry Brooks, and, my favorite, Fred Dryer (he got two sacks versus Green Bay in one game). The LB corps shaped up with Isiah Robertson and Jack 'Hacksaw' Reynolds forming a terrific tandem along with Jim Youngblood (no relation to Jack). Also, our secondary was anchored by Dave Elmendorf. 1973 was a great year and a great start to a great decade of Rams football. I still believe that if Jaworski remained as QB, our Rams would have made at least one more SB trip with a strong potential to win one. Even the Pittsburgh SB, the Rams were leading into the 4th qtr, but that interception....oh, well.

Great questions, Great Ram memories from the 1970's

    Re: Do You Know ? ? ?

Still one of the best 'Bowls' ever(14)...even despite the score not being that close. I heard John Clayton talking about his favorite all time SBs this last weekend and he sited both 14 and 34 as being among his favorites with 34 the best ever for him. I believe he said hes covered 29 of them. Those 2 'hail mary' type bombs in the second half really broke the Rams back...Ill never forget that SI cover showing the one long ball about an eyelash from being deflected by (I believe) Rod Perry.
