Dolphins showing interest in A. Goldberg

Dolphins | Team showing interest in A. Goldberg
    Thu, 15 Mar 2007 18:57:34 -0700

Greg Bedard, of the Palm Beach Post, reports the Miami Dolphins are showing interest in restricted free-agent OG Adam Goldberg (Rams). The St. Louis Rams would not receive compensation if another team signs Goldberg to an offer sheet and St. Louis refuses to match the offer.

Please walk me through the rule in goldberg's case pertaining to non compensation. I guess this means that if you tender a guy at the lowest level, what you are really doing is only preserving the right to match any offer, rather than at a higher tender, where you both get the right to match and compensation if you dont.

GC, I could be wrong, but I think that has something to do with him being an undrafted FA, instead of one of our draft picks. I think so?

I think the lowest tender only comes with right of first refusal, but the next one up requires the signing team to give up a draft pick equivalent to where the player was drafted. In this case, it could be either.

The Rams need to try and bring Goldberg bac he is a solid back up at a number of positions.

If Goldberg wasn't drafted, there is no compensation. We should try to keep him.

You got that right, Country! A. Goldberg is a good OL that IMO met expectations last season when we were faltering in that area. I think we could only benefit from keeping him for a few more seasons.

GC, sorry, "no comprendo nada" about the compensation situation.
