Donnie Avery Update
Per Rotoworld:

Per Donnie's Twitter page:Rams WR Donnie Avery (injured reserve, torn right ACL) revealed that he is already running 12 weeks removed from reconstructive knee surgery.
He is also able to play basketball. Avery doesn't have a history of serious injuries and will have had nearly a full year of recovery time before the start of 2011 training camp. While the Rams can't rely on him as a starter next season, he should be able to add needed speed to the receiver corps.
It's only been 12 weeks from acl surgery and I'm already running!!! Dedication, hard work and the man upstairs!

Re: Donnie Avery Update
Good to see he's been rehabbing with dedication, can't wait to see him and that nice vertical speed when Bradford's throwing to him next season.

Re: Donnie Avery Update
If he's already running, I'd like to see him get together w/ Bradford and get reacquainted this offseason. He looked good in the preseason, but I doubt he has the timing down that the others have gotten with Bradford over the season. Plus, he'll be fighting for playing time next season. Just a thought.

Re: Donnie Avery Update
Nice to hear the rehab is going so well. I tore my ACL back in high school and it took about nine months before I was able to run again without pain. Then again, I'm no where near the caliber athlete Donnie is

Re: Donnie Avery Update
Ex-squeeze me? Baking powder? He is also able to play basketball.
Why in the name of crap's kitchen is Avery playing basketball?"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Donnie Avery Update

Its not like Donnie is playing basketball in some European Pro League, and I doubt he plays five on five in a physical, full on basketball game. He's probably just shooting around and getting his knee used to moving and cutting again. Let's not make something out of nothing.

Re: Donnie Avery Update
I'll admit I facepalmed when I read he was playing basketball.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume it is very rehab oriented and will not expose him to further set backs.

Re: Donnie Avery Update
Can someone explain this to me. He'll be recovered and cleared to play, but he can't be relied on as a starter? Am I missing something? While the Rams can't rely on him as a starter next season, he should be able to add needed speed to the receiver corps.

Re: Donnie Avery Update
well when you go down the stairs to fix breakfast every morning your taking a risk...let alone the mandatory running and weight lifting he has to do for his rehab...
Intense rehab, ahead of schedule....he can't go shoot a few jumpers?
