Don't look now, but the Rams are a young team

If you want to know how far the Rams have come, consider this. If you would have asked 2-3 years ago who the "core" Rams players are, you'd probably have gotten a list similar to:

Bulger, Jackson, Pace, Bruce, Holt, Little, and Witherspoon.


As it stands now, I think you have to consider the core of our team something along the lines of:

Bulger, Jackson, Avery, Long, Bartell, Atogwe, and Jason Brown

By the start of next season, you can add in Mr #2 overall I think, maybe some other draftees. Now you could probably argue about tweaking each list a little, but the point remains that in only 2 years we went from a team with an old, aging core to a team with a lot of fresh legs that are locked up to long-term contracts (hopefully Atogwe gets locked up long-term soon too). True, we still have a ton of holes to fill. But for the first time in a while, I think it's fair to say that the Rams are only going to get better over the next 3-5 years.

It's an encouraging thought at least. Let's hope it remains true.
