A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
It was quite the tiring weekend
And now that I am on the mend
The '06 draft I will send
off with a poem, my friends
Speed is key for a D-back
So Hill should get no flack
If you want somebody taller
Stretch him out on a rack
Going over the top
and giving the Red Zone pop
we'll be really tough to stop
now that we've added Klop
Certain conduct is verboten
without it, scouts are doting
but all it seems were voting
for a Round three choice of Wroten
Who hits like a ton?
And really can run?
Blitz packages are fun
with a guy like Alston
It really isn't that absurd
to use two tight ends, or so I've heard
so with one more pick in the third
The Rams added Dominique Byrd
The Rams got rid of Manu
And this trade the Chargers will rue
The Rams get another steal too
By drafting Victor Adeyanju
Next we took a sleeper
Who we hope open peepers
Special teams just got deeper
If Marques Hagans is a keeper
Round seven brought bargains
Palmer, Setterson and T.M.,
If we get value from any of them
The draft may very well rate a 10
So stop me before I rhyme some more
Another stanza and I will bore
With draftees you never know what's in store
We can only hope glory, they will restore
In the end, who can ask for any more?

Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
So you got that I was using the draft as a metaphor for the ever-increasing of futility of man's effort to find the bliss of solitude in a World of hyper-technology?
I like to think of my style as ironic pentameter.

Ok. Let me say that I got the poem. I don't get this:

Too many big words. I'll just leave it at I got what the poem was about!
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
hey AvengerRam..... when i have poems to do next year in 8th grade, can you please help me?
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
During the draft I look for Avenger
He showed up here and there
But in the end he's a malingerer
His presence was bare
I challenged him to show
On day two but he was not here
I had some more money to blow
My donation he did not want was clear
So the Holt Foundation is lacking
because Avenger had something to do
Giving rise to this poem of smacking
To the AvengerRam, that's you.
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
My kids were bored in the house
And busy, was my spouse
So on an outing, off we went
Besides, most of our choices were spent
So critique if you must
Among you this may be discussed
With addiction to this site, I may be cursed
But make no mistake, my kids come first
So come back at me - do your worst!
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
Avenger has put on his mitts
In reply to my poem that's true
His kids were giving him fits
He's a father first through and through
I admire his dedication to his family
And scared of his wife like me
To lessen the house of calamity
It was his only choice you see
So in light of my error in judgement
There is only one course of action to take
I'm not too big to admit I was wrong
And another donation I shall make
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
Fear of one's spouse only goes so far
What I'm really scared of is your avatar!
Re: A Draft Weekend Tribute Poem (or, why AvengerRam shouldn't quit his day job)
There once was a man from Nantuc.......oh, wrong poem.
AV, you get an A+ just for the "verboten to Wroten" leap. You're lucky you did pull a muscle on that one.
