    Eagles open touchdown favorites

Wow only seven, with all the talk around here I was sure we would be a 15 point underdog. Guess the oddsmakers didnt panic watching the Rams pre-season either.

I'm a bit surprised as well. Heck, SI has them winning the super bowl. Then again, that's not saying much.

Is it a bad sign if your first reaction to that isn't to be encouraged but to start thinking about gambling on an Eagles 7+ point win?

Yes Denmark... it's bad. Bet on something more likely to cover the spread, such as NE.

You get 3 point for being at home, so 4 points not bad.

We are advancing constantly and we're not interested in holding onto anything -- except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose, and we're gonna kick him in the ass. We're gonna kick the hell out of him all the time, and we're gonna go through him like crap through an eagle!

Gentlemen, I have full expectation of going into Philadelphia and winning that game. That is all.

We're going to at least cover the spread. We just have to focus on getting to Westbrook. Who do we have to cover? Hank Baskett, DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant?

I agree that their receivers arent great, but our secondary doesnt exactly have Night Train Lane in it. The key will be stopping westbrook of course, but also, we MUST get a pass rush. If we dont get a pass rush, i dont care who their receivers are, they will burn us.

does McNabb still run around or has he slowed down due to his injuries ? need to watch out for that to,as GC said we need to get a good pass rush and if we get to him we MUST take him down and not let him out of the pocket,if we do that and of course score touchdowns not just field goals I like our chances.

You forget the great Kevin Curtis!
I've always found the Eagles to be a pretty one dimensional team. They're going down.

No he didn't forget Curtis. Curtis won't be playing as he has a sports hernia. He will be out for weeks.

It,s hard to get a real feel for a team until they play at least 2-3 real games so being 7 point favorites don't mean a hold lot.

From what I've seen he has slowed some due to injuries and he's also more hesitant to scramble when the chance is there and sometimes tries to when the chance isn't there. I think that part of his game has deteriorated some.

I hope that when we play them he stays in the pocket a lot. I've always felt that he was overrated as a pure passer, he's ok, but I wouldn't call him a top passer. I'd take Bulger over McNabb any day. If he's out and scrambling and we also have to defend Westbrook both from receiving and running, that's going to be tough. Westbrook is the catalyst for their offense like Faulk was in ours, we have to contain him first and foremost.

We're lucky that Curtis won't be playing, he's definitely their best receiver, the rest of their receivers don't scare anybody. I'm not overly enthusiastic about our secondary but this day that matchup should favor us.

It's going to be a pretty tough one, we better hope Steven Jackson is in top shape despite his absence.
