    empty seats in the dome

there were 5,000 unsold seats tonight which led to the blackout. hard to tell on tv, but the place looked about half empty. that means to me that people that own season tickets not only didnt want to go to the game, but literally couldnt give the seats away.

I hate to say it, but thats pathetic, i dont care if its preseason. Think that would happen at a giants or eagles or bears game? At the end of the day, st louis is a baseball town and the rams will excite people when they are winning, but i just dont see the true passion out of the fans to support the team through good and bad. The PSL's made the seats very expensive and a lot of true fans just cant afford to go and the fair weather fans are giving the entire city a bad name when it comes to supporting the team.

I agree. Being a fmr STLian, I'm embarassed. I remember watching the Jacksonville game last year, and it was amazing to see how pathetic the crowd was. STL will always be a baseball town, no matter how many championships the Rams will win in the future...

I was there and it felt like a preseason game. Similiar to last year except for the KC game which had a better turn out. Being on a thurs night probably had a negative effect on attendance also.

Green Bay have more fans at their practices than we had at the game last night.......sad, truly sad.

I wouldn't make too much of this.

    1. It is preseason
    2. It's still vacation
    3. School hasn't started so people are still doing little league.

Exactly, and why spend Full Price on tickets for a game that isn't going to count against the Super Bowl.

Re: empty seats in the dome

For one preseason games are the biggest rip off on the planet paying 45 dollars a seat for section 422 isnt exactly what I want to spend my hard earned living on. Even though I do because I am a season ticket holder just what you should consider when saying people arent "real fans" for not going to the first preseason game. The only reason people are making a big deal out of some seats being empty is because of the black out. Honestly I could not tell a difference from yesterdays preseason game from previous years, looked the same to me. BTW I left at half time so maybe after half the dome really looked emty.

EDIT: DID I MENTION IT WAS A THURSDAY NIGHT ????? Maybe if it was a saterday more people could have gone.

Re: empty seats in the dome

I swore I'd never go to another pre-season game. They're meaningless and confusing, yet still at playoff like prices.

By the way, The dome is not exactly conducive to WATCHING football. I don't know about you but IMO, there's no attempt to give the watcher information. The PA is pathetic. And there's just two little scoreboards; and these give you nothing but the basics. I'll do my watching on TV (if they don't ruin that) where I'm deluged with meaningless statistics and shots of the scantily clad cheerleader babes you couldn't see if you were actually there.

I actually prefer RAMS home games on TV because of how bad the dome is, BUT going to an NFL seems like an honor to me or something may sound dumb to you but ya...

Re: empty seats in the dome

I don't think there were a lot of people there last night because it was a Thursday night, the team finished 6-10 last year and paying full price to see 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers doesn't seem like a wise investment. With that being said, the game was good from where I sat in 423. Next game there will probably be more because it is on a Saturday.
