ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Chasing Witherspoon: Watch for the Rams to make a quick move on Panthers linebacker Will Witherspoon, one of the top players at the linebacker position. The Panthers already know Witherspoon will get more than $10 million in a signing bonus, but they are feverously trying to sign him. The Saints, Jaguars and Vikings are among the other possibilities.

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Yeah, but is he a BIG piece to our defensive puzzle? Like will he really make a huge difference? If so, then I say all for it, but then again, it does sound expensive...

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
He played weakside in Carolina. That's an awful lot of money for someone who's natural position is the same as Pisa and Coakley.

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
i think pickett is worth more than this guy. there is no superman out there to save our defense. i wouldnt put that kind of money into this guy. we wouldnt pay pickett 4 mill per year and he LED THE NFL IN TACKLES AT HIS POSITION. How many great years has witherspoon had?

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
IMO he is worth a 10mil Signing Bonus. The guy is I think only 25 and making a statement in the NFL. He is a Top 10 LB. He would no doubt make an immidiate impact. If we sign him our OLB spot is fixed. Would would then only have to get the MLB spot figured out. I will love if this guy signs with us.

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Rip, I think those are three very good years, i am not sure that i would count those as three "great" years. Take a look at arch's tackle numbers. I know he has had plenty of tackles and i am sure that he has not had three "great" years.
Part of the issue here of course is whether he is or isnt worth 10 million up front is a function of what else 10 million up front would buy you compared to the draft availability. My real point is that i think that pickett is worth more.
The issue with pickett at this point i assume is that with kennedy and glover, paying pickett is a move that affects the future but may or may not fill a hole in the present depending on the development or lack thereof of kennedy, whereas its clear we really need help at linebacker.

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Il take Witherspoon for a decent price, and i would also like to see Chavous, Bart Scott and a DE come in.
Bart Scott was a good stand in for Ray Lewis this year, but i think the Rams will still need to draft an MLB

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Agreed, the three years i outlined were not fantastic years more productive and reliable,Obviously the need for linebacker outweighs the need for DT right now and I would be happier with Witherspoon than Pickett but everyone has a different opinion on the situation

Re: ESPN's Clayton on Rams/Witherspoon
Isn't that the LB from the Jaguars? Anyways I'm guessing it will be kind of cheap due to last season he didn't have a season like he could have but I'll keep searching to find the cost he wants.
