    Exhibition games

Our first exhibition game is only 19 days away. August 14th @ 8pm vs. the Minnesota Vikings at the Edward Jones Dome.

Exhibition wins and losses mean nothing right? It's a chance for the coaches to see the players play against another NFL team. The exhibition season is played so that the coaching staff can decide who to keep and who to let go.

    My question is this.....

Is it important for our RAMS to have a good exhibition season? Meaning in the won/loss category. Does 0-4 or 1-3 hurt the attitude of the team? Do we need to go 4-0 or 3-1 to get that losing feeling out their heads?

    GO RAMS!!!!!

    Re: Exhibition games

Ok, I'll bite on this one. It's always nice to win - whether you're playing for matchsticks or dollars. That said, there will be a lot of guys playing in the preseason games who will be gone by the start of the regular season. My answer is "no" it doesn't matter all that much. Just ask Jimmy Johnson who I believe won all his preseason games in his first season with Dallas, and nothing after that ..

I know I'll be looking to see if our O-line can protect the QB more than anything else early on. If we can't accomplish that, it will be another long season ..

It's more about individual performances than the team result. The Lions went 4-0 in preseason the year they went 0-16 in the regular season.

I'm just looking forward to seeing Bradford throw the ball.

We were 3-1 last year in preseason, it doesn't mean anything. Preseason is for figuring out who makes the final roster, that's it.

    Re: Exhibition games

By the trends shown in recent years, i'd be more alarmed if we won all of our games..probably means we'll lose the majority of the ones that matter.

I'll be watching this preseason like a hawk when i get the opportunity.

I don't mind if we lose all 4.

However, we have to show something in pre season that is productive.

Whether its 1 great pass from Bradford, an INT by Murphy or even Carpenter laying out a TE/WR.

I don't wanna see dropped passes, blown coverages or missed tackles.

I'd just like to see the Rams total wins in the regular season exceed the number of wins in the preseason....

I like to see effort, especially by the guys fighting for roster spots. Of course with the starters it is very hard to tell, and many times the coaches are just looking for if the players can run the plays smoothly.

    Re: Exhibition games

Myself, I usually gage it by the first qt. That's when the starters get pulled in the first 2 games. They play a little longer on the 3rd then don't play at all in the 4th.........Maybe one series. This team has been bad for to long to only play the starters so little in pre-season. I want to see some improvement all around and yeah you pose a threat to harm a starter ,but hell either way, lose a player maybe,or lose so many games that your back to -square 4. I really feel the first half should belong to the starters and shuffle in the 2nd teamers for good rest rotation . Then let the others fight it out in the 2nd half and you will see your little diamonds then. This team needs to gel and that means more time on the practice battle feild of the pre-season. But wins wise , the pre season means nothing. A lot of scrubs against scrubs decides those games. I bet most teams who had 4 wins in a pre-season won in the 2nd half. So their starters pretty much lost.
I stopped going to the dentist.......I got tired of the cavity searches!
