    The Fantastic Four?

After watching the game again and remembering how well they played against Seattle, I have come to the conclusion we need to name our defense, but somehow the fearsome foursome does not quite fit. It's hard to compare this years unit with a unit I have never seen live as I would have been just out of diapers when they played. So I propose a new name. One that is fitting and hip with the times.

I give you the Fantastic Four.
    Chris Long
    Robert Quinn
    Kendall Langford
    Michael Brockers

    GO RAMS!!!

(KSDKSports) -- Luck had three interceptions and backup Matt Hasselbeck one, withthree coming in the red zone. The Rams had another three sacks, all bydefensive ends Robert Quinn (two) and Chris long (one).

Most of the Rams' pressure came fromtheir front four without blitzing.

Said Fisher,"It showed in the first half when they were in the hurry up, but they wereplay-action passing with basic offensive personnel, just for protection. And wemade some adjustments and still got there. We put really good pressure on him(Luck). He's an outstanding quarterback. It was a tough week for the wholedefensive staff watching him play."
As for thesuccess in the red zone, Fisher reiterated, "Pressure. I think pressure. When the lead gets to where it is they can't settle for threes. So, they'retrying to force a ball in there."

The amazing thing, is that the Rams don't blitz all that much. The can get to the QB with just a basic 4 man rush. A lot of the other teams that have these high number of sacks, most of their sacks come from blitz.

With their inconsistencies in the 1st half of the season i don't think its wise to start giving out names just yet. They havent quite earned it yet but the last couple of games they've been sure fun to watch.

Ditto. Love the enthusiasm. However, I'd like to see more consistency, especially against the run before we start talking nicknames. We're near the top of the league in sacks but middle of the pack in overall defense.

So I guess Quinn is Mister Fantastic seeing that the pass rushing stunts he pulls often involves contorted movements.

I agree with the others who note that the group up front has to be consistently dominant before they earn a nickname.that said, I also think you need to find one that represents the whole group, inc the LB corps and primary back-ups on the DL. Somehow, Fantastic Eleven doesn't quite cut it....lol..

Maybe we need to adapt a name from music pop culture, rather than comic books, since it takes coordination of all those guys, like a tight jammin' band, to make the dominant defensive music that's so sweet to our ears.

How about The Sacktastics or, if Doo_Wop is too ancient a reference- nothing all that hip about a 50 year old comic book ,imo- perhaps some blood-pumping old school rock like KISS:

    Get up
    Everybody's gonna move their feet
    Get down
    Everybody's gonna leave their seat
You gotta lose your mind in St Louis Sack City

Note: you whippersnappers will have to google Detroit Rock City by Kiss to get the full effect. 50,000 fans screaming that little ditty would generate some good 12th man noise for third down.
Somehow stealing a motor city-named tune from Suh & company pleases me as well.

Makes sense. When they do earn a moniker (possibly sooner than later), they could be The Fab Four.

Since its on Defense and the Rams already had a Fearsome Foursome, the only name that seems to fit. The 4 Horsemen would be on par

    Re: The Fantastic Four?

Brockers is the Thing - a huge clobbering beast
Quinn is the Human Torch - burning past tackles with his speed
Long is Mr Fantastic - just keeps on going
Langford is the Invisible Woman - no one would know if he wasn't there?

...probably unfair on one of these guys to be called Invisible Woman!!

He's got the arm extension for stripping the ball too.
