The Faulk ceremony was a disaster

You get to see how cheap this organization really is during stuff like this and they didn't disappoint. The whole thing was bad, they wouldn't shut the stupid music off and it kept drowning out Faulk. And that banner.....Besides being initially hung sideways that banner is embarrassing to a player like Faulk, it looks homemade and like it should be on some kids wall in his room.

I could hear the music too, and ditto on the banner it was horrible.

Really, you too? Hmm I didn't hear any music and I heard Faulk ok. Maybe I just tuned out the music to focus on Faulk. Or I need an appointment with an Audiologist. :\

I was there, and I thought it went OK. EVERYBODY there (including the Steelers fans, which there were more of) cheered a lot for him. The banner hanging wasn't the greatest. I did hear music, but was able to understand Faulk perfectly.
But there really should have been some more done, especially for this ceremony.

Agreed. Perhaps not too elaborate nor fancy but I would have liked to see the NFL Commisioner speak and have him display a Marshall Faulk jersey in a glass case, symbolic of No. 28 being retired, et cetera. Rams cheerleaders in No. 28 jerseys. A nicer banner, yes.

A little more. A little better. But perhaps I just couldn't see it on TV as nice as it was live at the EJD.

Keenum, if you say it was OK, good enough for me. I trust U.

I saw the framed jersey in the glass, I forget who was holding it but they were on the left side of the screen.

I'm guessing the other people spoke during commercials. I thought it was fine I would rather hear Faulk anyways.

There was a framed jersey on the left, and then what looked like an autographed framed picture on the right.

I was still disappointed. We retired his number cause he led us to the promise land. He picked us up when we were down. He played longer when we thought he was done. He did what we thought he couldn't do.

For that ceremony? Fry cook of the month...

Complete garbage. The ceremony wasn't near the caliber of other number retirement ceremonies I have seen (I saw Kareem's number retired at the Forum in person). this lookes like an insurance salesman at the end of a 15 year stay with the company. "Here ya go-here's your crooked, crappy little banner and a handshake, now off with ya." What a joke. Pathetic. Embarrassing.

Re: The Faulk ceremony was a disaster

From what I gather, it was Marshall's little speach that saved the retiring of his jersey ceremony. Just like he saved many a game for us.

I am glad he mentioned his Rams teammates and thanked the STL fans for their support and for making everything possible.

Still, it seems he deserved a more special celebration. :\

[Magpie, I know what you mean; I remember Kareem's jersey night too (more significant, more special)]

Even Bob Costas was making fun of the banner DURING the ceremony. Was pretty sad.

I also found it funny that Costas had to quell the crowd's derision when Shaw and Zygmunt were mentioned. Obviously, they're not going to fire themselves, but I hope they were listening.

That ceremony was weak at best. I wish Marshall would have stood still while he was talking. I felt like I was watching a tennis match.

I am very unhappy with the whole ceremony......Marshall deserved better than that.

Re: The Faulk ceremony was a disaster

From reports I am reading, the whole night was dedicated to Marshall, and what you saw at halftime was only a small part of it. Apparently, video clips from ex-players, current players, and ex-coaches played all night, as well as clips and highlight films dedicated to Marshall ...

With that said, the halftime presentation did come off a bit cold. It was about on par with the fans ...
