faulks comments on trent greens knee injury

In the post dispatch article on faulks retirement, there is a great section on faulk speaking out for the first time about trent green's injury. Bottom line, apparantly faulk blocked rodney harrison on the blitz, and given the "unwritten rule" for preseason where a veteran player stays blocked once blocked, he felt that harrison had been blocked. However, harrison lunged at greens knee after the block, leading to the injury, for which faulk felt responsible.

This settles once and for all (as if there was any question) as to whether this was a clean hit by harrison. Classic never ending cheap shot.

Like Rodney Harrison was worried about his position on the Chargers that year that he has to go all out during pre-season. It was cheap shot then, a cheap shot now, and a cheap shot in the future.

Re: faulks comments on trent greens knee injury

In madison square garden, to this day, once a game, from high up in the blue seats, comes the chant POTVIN SUCKS. This is a direct result of course of the cheap shot that potvin inflicted on ulf neilson, effectively ending neilsons career.

From the rafters of the Ed, there should be a chant once a game that screams "HARRISON SUCKS' because what he did to trent green was a travesty of a sham of a mockery of a debacle.

The knee injury did not end Trent's career and we turned out to win the superbowl even with Trent injured. So I don't see the connection.

Re: faulks comments on trent greens knee injury

Didn't he give another cheap shot even more recently? Or was he the receipient this time? I forget what happened exactly...

Re: faulks comments on trent greens knee injury

The connection is that an extreme cheap shot and fans should never stop harrassing an opposing player that engages in that type of extreme cheap shot. By the way, neilson returned to action, note that i said effectively ending his career. Who knows if trent green was ever the same again. It sure cost him the chance to be a starting qb for three years and plenty of money. thus, by analogy its the same.
