Faulk's NFC power rankings on NFLN
1. Seahawks--Kerney big help and improved safety play expected. WR's strong, weak at G due to Hutch loss still.
2. Bears
3. Eagles
4. Saints
5. Cowboys
Just saw this and passing it along. He did not mention past the top 5, but analyzed the Rams earlier in the program. On the Rams, he said that they need more consistent play from the TE's and expects Linehan to be more comfortable in his second year now that he has had some time to sort of assemble his "type" of team. Said that Bennett (obviously) must produce and capitalize on Holt commanding double-teams, Bruce still being a good player, and opposing defenses stacking the line to stop SJ. Said that Drew should help in the red zone to provide a bigger target for Bulger. Pretty basic stuff, just wanted to pass it along to you guys and gals.
P.S.--For those interested, later in this program which is currently on, they are running down Marshall Faulks' top 10 career plays. Apparently, Faulk was named the 19th best player of the past 25 years in a USA Today ranking. Total Access airs again at 10 et, 9 central time tonight.Last edited by Bruce=GOAT; -07-02-2007 at 07:40 PM. Reason: added info

At least we will be able to prove ourselves this year against the saints, cowgirls, and the seachickens twice.

Re: Faulk's NFC power rankings on NFLN
He thought the Seahawks WR's are a strong point?? What they have Branch and who else? Seems to me WR is a definite weak point on the Seahawks team, I don't understand that assessment at all. I think the Seahawks defense will be pretty good, especially compared to the rest of the NFC West defenses, but their offense just doesn't look good to me and WR is one of their worst positions as I see it.
I'm not sure the Cowboys will be that good this year either, it all hinges on Romo - he looked like Peyton Manning one week and Rex Grossman the next last year, so I'd be careful saying that he'll lead the Cowboys to the playoffs, hard to predict how good he'll be.
Saints, Rams, Eagles, Bears & Panthers would be my top 5 NFC teams in '07.

I say thanks, Marshall. It will be nice upending the pre-season "best" in the conference twice this year.

Re: Faulk's NFC power rankings on NFLN
no kidding, but bears won't be the top 5 team. it'll be the saints, rams, eagles, cowboys, and *****. that's right, the *****. they'll surprise alot of people and win the nfc west OR just a game or two behind the rams and get the wild card berth.

Cowboys # 5, I don't see it. Coaching change, Romo hasn't proven he can do it consistently, defense can't over come Owens tirades this year.
Rams - offense has to overcome what we didn't upgrade this offseason on defense. I think they can do it with weapons in every area of the field this year. The only weekness on offense may be the inexperience in the O-line in the middle if McCollum doesn't start. We do have the makings for a top unit with the depth and talent from the youth.
Haslett has to be pissed about last years work from his unit. There have been upgrades, but I'd like to see them scheeming and flying around the field like they did in Broncos game last year.
I think we'll see it.
Rams #1
Maineram - the homer ( Faulk can't be ) :l

I think Faulk is in a tough spot, it just wouldn't look right if all he ever did was pick the Rams all the time, off the record I bet he thinks the rams can do something special this year.

Re: Faulk's NFC power rankings on NFLN
I think the whole conference is somewhat up in the air. The Bears have had a rough off-season, the Seahawks' offense is regressing, and the Cowboys still have a lot of question marks. The Saints' defense looks suspect, but then again it didn't look that intimidating on paper last year either. It'd probably be easier to name the teams that don't have a chance to crack the top five than to name the teams that do.

Re: Faulk's NFC power rankings on NFLN
Faulk is in a tough spot. It's not like the Rams are a clear cut favorite. We need to show we can play some D first. As for Faulk's rankings, the whole NFC is up for grabs so his rankings aren't really that crazy no matter how you start breaking down particular teams. The NFC is a toss up and we need to take advantage of that this season.
