Felix and Oscar, Vermiel and Martz, Spags and McDaniels?

The Rams have a new odd couple.

Spags, like Vermiel, is "old school." Discipline, hard work, good values, stability, long term approach.

McDaniels, like Martz, is brash, aggressive, innovative and all about staying "ahead of the curve."

Will this mix work?

It did before.

If you think about it, it makes sense.

You want a guy like Spags to be the "manager" of the team's future.

But, on game day, a guy like McDaniels may be just what the doctor ordered.

Lets hope that when we win a Super Bowl, Spags doesn't cry and retire to make McD our HC while doing dumb personnel moves or going for it on 4th and 30.

This is a great observation AV.. I'm looking forward to a more exciting offense. I want wins no matter how we get them but that dink and dunk offense from last season was very frustrating to watch.

McDaniels showed what the consequences are of him getting everything he wants, with no one to keep him in line. Spags and Devaney will keep him in check but still allow him to run the type of offense he wants.

I think it's a very good hire, my only concern would be him bolting for another head coaching job after a couple of years.

He needs to show that he can make this offense PRODUCTIVE before he gets offered another HC job. No small feat. Heres to hoping!

If that's your only concern, it's not too bad of a consequence. It means the Rams have been lighting it up, which right now I can live with. In a perfect world it would be nice to have a Tom Moore type OC, but thats not the case. McDaniel's if successful, is no doubt someone who will be looking for a head job position. Im hoping Bradford learns what he can off McD, then becomes a P.Manning type, who down the road will be calling his own plays at the LOS. That's my dream anyways. Good players, far outweigh schemes.
