Re: Fisher goes down
From CBS Sportsline:
St. Louis Rams cornerback Travis Fisher had to leave practice on Thursday after injuring his left ankle. Fisher underwent medical tests later in the day. Coach Scott Linehan said Fisher had his ankle rolled after getting tangled with another player. "He wasn't able to finish," Linehan said. "We'll see if it's serious at all." Fisher also has struggled with a nagging groin injury this season. Rookie Tye Hill, the Rams' first-round pick, is the backup at Fisher's left cornerback spot.

Re: Fisher goes down
How ironic that with all the talk about Fisher, this happens and he might not be able to play. If he can't go, it will be extremely interesting to see how the secondary performs and if those around here who called for his head had the right or wrong idea.

Re: Fisher goes down
Be careful what you wish for- message to the anti fisher crowd. We will see how the rookie hill does if fisher cant go. I still have hope for butler, i agree 100% with mike, it will be interesting to see what happens- lets hope for the best.

Re: Fisher goes down
i hope fisher isn't seriously injured because i don't dislike the guy at all...there's got to be a good reason why he's starting for haslett...i think it's an error for any of us to be glad that he may not be playing this weekend...
but, i think butler will start ahead of hill if fisher can't go on sunday...

So you believe in spells do you? Some voodoo magic perhaps....do we have a powerful spell maker in the ranks?
Maybe they could cast a spell on the Chiefs this week. That would be better than getting Fisher to twist an ankle.

Based on what? Butler wasn't even ahead of Bartell on the CB depth chart the last time we dove deep into the line-up.

i'm basing it solely on their starting experiences, but of course it's just a guess...didn't butler fill in for brown in the greenbay and seattle game?

Butler only got into the starting line-up against GB after both Fisher and Bartell went down. And again, Tye Hill started in Brown's place to begin with. I don't recall Butler on the field at all against Seattle. We started Fisher/Hill with Chavous moving up as the nickel corner. So I wouldn't bank on Butler starting unless we see some more injuries, though this might allow him to be active for the game.
FYI, a tidbit from Balzer about Butler:
Quote:
|
The coaches, including Haslett, don't believe Butler is as good in coverage as the guys starting or physical enough in run support. That's their decision to make. If Butler think that's head games, so be it. Play better. Don't sulk. Offer to play special teams.

Re: Fisher goes down
yeah, good points...i think butler was just activated for the seattle game but don't remember seeing him on the field...
i've also read rumors regarding butler in that his refusal to participate in special teams has really erred haslett...i have no way to confirm or deny this rumor, but it sure does offer a plausible reason for his absence on the field in any capacity...

Are sure there was only one? Might have been one on the grassy knoll too...

Re: Fisher goes down
Sad to hear. As much as I've criticised Fisher you'd be one screwed up fan if you started thinking another injury would be good for the team. I'm sure Hill will get the start if Fisher can't go, Butler will only get to play if we get more injuries, or perhaps squeeze into a dime package behind Brown, Hill and Bartell, the coaching staff sure is sending a loud and clear signal to Butler, I think he's gone in the offseason.

Re: Fisher goes down
As bad as Fisher has played at times, Hill still has not won the starting job. That should tell you something.

It tells you that he's a rookie and he's still learning.
From what the coaches said, Fisher hasn't played as bad as some people here think he has.
