    Flash in the pan players.....

Who is the one(or more) player whom you thought was destined for greatness that just fell off the Rams Nation map?

Anyone remember Robert Young? The guy looked like he was going to be an elite pass rusher and then *poof*.....fell off the face of the Earth.

Welcome to the Clan, Skelley! Good question / thread, BTW...

Though he never played (because he never committed to it), it seems this type of dud is exemplified by the great QB Hope -- Heisman Trophy winner, mind you -- the great Eric Crouch!

    nice!

How about Tommy Polley? Did he not look like the next big thing one minute and then the next big Rams bust the next?

Hmm, I don't know about Tommy. I kind of liked Polley as an OLB -- played four years with us and totalled aprox. 330 tackles. Had a couple of excellent games or three, including one in the playoffs Vs. GB.

Yes, I remember Robert Young: didn't he play the dad in "Father Knows Best"? Seriously, though I do recall that R. Young did seemingly have a breakout year and then last I heard he was selling car insurance or something.

I may have a name for ya'll. Anyone remember Jewerl Thomas the erstwhile RB from San Jose State? He ran for like 140+ yards in one game and then came back a week or so later and did just about as well. Then he disappeared from view.

    WHAT SAY YE?

Are you thinking of Adam Archuleta? And if you are, stop, as the pain only gets worse.

We traded him to KC after Joe Delaney drown. He didn't fare too well without the Rams O-line

I remember R young, he did have a breakout year, I think he lined up next to (Gilbert and jimmie jones as the tackles).... I think he was traded to the Raiders and that was that!!!

For me, its sean gilbert. The guy was a MAJOR monster stud, got hurt, was never the same again, and then left the team. He played in the league a while, so i dont think you can call him a complete bust, but he seemed destined for superstardom for years to come on the rams.

In the category of one shining moment, it would have to be Ryan Fitz and his one spectacular debut game leading to the comeback and OT win vs the texans, followed by a few lousy games and ultimately traded for a #7.

This one only quasi-qualifies, but the Rams drafted a scat back from OK in '85 named Dan Bradley. Never played a snap for the Rams, but caught on with the Lions in '87. He appeared in 3 games starting 1. In that limited time, he amassed 291 all purpose yards and 2 TDs. And then.........never played another snap.

Pretty sure it was the Oilers, same results though. As for Gilbert......he was just a greedy lazy twat. Loads of talent, but not an ounce of heart.

Anyone remember TJ Rubley.....kinda the standard by which the Ryan Fitzpatricks are measured by.
