Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
You may be tempted to respond with "all of the above," but which of the following factors do you think is MOST IMPORTANT?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
I was deciding between pressuring stafford and establishing the run game. The run game is important for clock control, and will be a big factor. However, the Lions have a deadly passing attack and won't need much time to put points on the board. Keeping Stafford under pressure, throwing him off his rhythm, and forcing the Lions to use shorter routes will make the most difference I think.

It's really all of the above and score more points then the Lions.
However I went with establishing the running game early. Which will allow us to eat up the clock and keep the Lions offense off of the field.

Protecting Sam Bradford. We have to expect the Lions to put up their usual 25 points, so we have to be able to put points on the board. We have a good running game, we just need to keep the pocket clean, stop Suh, Fairley, Williams, Young, Vanden-Bosh, and Avril, and let Sam be comfortable and go thru his reads.
GO RAMS!

Re: Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
I went Protecting Sam Bradford. The Lions have a really weak secondary, if Sam can have some time in the pocket he can take full advantage of the Lions secondary.
The Detroit Lions could be a little thin in their secondary when they host the St. Louis Rams for the season opener on Sunday. Starting cornerback Chris Houston and safety Louis Delmas could both be out of action for the season opener, setting up some favorable matchups for Sam Bradford and the Rams offense.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is not saying anything until Wednesday, when the NFL requires him to make his first official injury report of the regular season. Both Delmas and Houston did individual work on the sidelines on Monday, which the report notes could indicate that they will be ready to go this week.Last edited by Rambos; -09-04-2012 at 03:18 PM.

Megatron is hands down the best wide out in the game. He must be kept in check or the Rams won't have a chance to keep up- whether they establish a running game or not.

Protect SB.
Coming away healthy with a good showing, so he can build on it for the season (mostly home games). Come on, we're not expecting a 16 - 0 record are we??
SB is the future, without him this team shall once again fade to grey for another year.
Period.

AV your better off asking what is the 2nd most important key to winning the game for the rest of the season...Protecting Bradford will be the most important thing the entire season there is a huge difference in Bradford when he is protected and not protected (as is for every QB)

Re: Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
I'm tempted to say keeping Stafford horizontal is the most important, but I'll go with keeping Bradford vertical instead.

Re: Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
I vote for converting TD's in the red zone. I dont think we can win this game 17-13, we are going to need to score some td's. If we stall inside the 20 and kick field goals, we are going to lose. If we can convert TD's when we get into the red zone, that will be a huge consideration. Of course, many of the other things on the list are also critical. If i had to pick a #2, it would be run the ball effectively throughout the game (not just early). If we cant do that, the defense will be on the field too long and we will get torched at some point.

Re: Which of the following is the biggest key to beating the Lions?
To be competitive, then play good fundamental football, sure protect Sam Bradford but also make tackles on defense throughout the entire game.
If they want to win? Honestly, they have to keep Megatron off the field, so the sooner they can get that running game going the better. Oh and ... false starts are very bad.

trenches if Rams can control line of scrimmage all other factors have to be in place at least to a decent degree
