Forget about the schedule, look no further than Week 1 ....

The Rams open with a team we once dominated time and time again, the Seattle Seahawks ...

Oh, how times have changed. Now, having dropped eight straight to Seattle, and in the mist of quite possibly the worst two season stretch in franchise history, the Rams have an opportunity to turn around that losing culture in a hurry ...

Forget the early road games, forget the home opener, forget the three game homestand after the bye, and the road heavy December schedule. The first game could quite possibly be the most important on the schedule for the Rams ...

And with that said, it doesn't matter if Seattle fields a bad team this year, a good team, a great team, wins the Super Bowl, or what not. The Rams have a chance to throw one monkey off their back early in the season. All they have to do is beat Seattle. Beat a Seattle team that has found a way to beat us time and time again for four straight seasons. Even when we had victory in grasp a few times, they ripped it away. They practically own us. Has a team ever owned us like this with exception of the 49'ers? I don't think so ...

Go into Seattle and win in game 1, and it will change the entire mentality of this team, the players, the fans, everyone involved. This really is an important game, and could be a turning point for us ...

Forget generating confidence and momentum through a soft schedule - could anything do that more than beating the Seahawks on the road in week 1?

Its certainly a chance for the Rams to shine and make an immediate impact in the race for the division crown.

Personally, i love it. Barring fluke preseason injuries, the Rams will be able to field their top players and go into Seattle with a full contingent of starters. Gives them a nice stretch to prepare for this game and go in with an attitude.

Mind you... it may be a new Seattle team. Holmgren is gone and Mora is taking over. A perfect time to "turn the tables" so to speak.

Dang has it been four years? I'm starting to feel old and I'm only twenty. Man I want to get back to those years where were on top. Seems like yesterday we beat them three times in one year. Perhaps I am in denial?

First game in a new era, against a bitter division rival with a healthy (hopefully) team and a chance to build momentum, break a painful losing streak and sit atop the West. Great way to start the season. With a bang! I can't wait.

I damn near cringed when i saw seattle as our first opponents..your right, i think the outcome will more or less put on a mentality for the team, whether win or lose..beating them will set a tone, make a statement, i mean this is THE NFC rivalry i think..i cannot stand seattle and beating them will do more than excite me for the rest of the season..

I like this, I think it takes a little pressure off our new head coach, he can focus on the game and if he can bring the team back to the dome 2-0 then that place will be rocking.

With Seattle early, we'll get to see how well the secondary looks very early.

I think i've learned to hate the Seaweeds more than the ****** since the realignment. If we can come outta there with a win that would be huge. Then again, the Cards are starting to get on my bad side too. We really need to start beating teams in our division again cause its been a loooong time.

I"m so sick of losing to these cream puffs. I can't believe we haven't beaten them in four years. Something tells me things are about to change.

Good point(s), good post, Infinite. And getting back at the Sawks in their turf would be not only an enormous booster for the team and every horns fan out there, but an indication that the time has come ... to see ... the ... revamping of the Rams!

Indeed my friend, you got this right:

Go into Seattle and win in game 1, and it will change the entire mentality of this team, the players, the fans, everyone involved. This really is an important game, and could be a turning point for us ...

That is a big opening game and it would make a big statement to win against Seattle on the road.
