Forget bennett, he is a chief

espn reports that bennett was traded to the chiefs for an undisclosed draft choice. the rams offered a #4. bennett said he preferred to be traded to the rams but the saints said that they didnt want to trade him to the nfc.

If the chiefs offered more than we did, so be it. If the chiefs offered less and the chiefs took it because we are in the nfc they are morons. On to plan b.

No one wanted to give up a #3 for bennett so we cant blame the front office on this one. Moe williams visited again yesterday and left without a contract, but maybe we will reconsider again.

Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

So, if this is correct, would my logic be correct in saying that, he would rather go to the Cheifs and possably fight for the 2nd back place(Holmes) rather than come to us, and virtually secure his place as the No.2 back?

Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

I think the point is that the saints couldnt have cared less what bennett thought or wanted. they traded him where they wanted to trade him. Bennett said he preferred to go to the rams.

Question Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

So now what ? Who do we go after ? We need a decent back up to SJ for sure.

Another option might be Chris Brown, Im not sure if he is availible or not but very disapointing that Bennett wasnt able to come to us because we're in the NFC.

Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

Very disappointing news. I certainly hope Chris Brown will visit us and give us a chance. I think he's better than Bennett because he's a tough running back and won't go down unless he's seriously hurt. I've watched him play and he's a heck of a back. Moe Williams- please don't come back. I'm not too fond of him.

Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

chris brown is NOT the answer. He wants out of his current situation because he wants a full time job. That is an accident waiting to happen on the rams. Jackson is the man here.

Re: Forget bennett, he is a chief

The scuttlebutt down in Saints country is that the trade was for a 4th rounder but that the deal could be sweetened if Bennett hits certain production levels this year. Personally, I wish we had not traded him. Deuce is only 8 months removed from his ACL tear and has looked sluggish at camp so far. The Saints hope to use Bush with Deuce like USC did with LenDale White, but I just don't think Deuce is ready.

I sure do miss playing you guys twice per year.

he's recovering from surgery, so that's why he failed. i am not sure how far away from being fully recovered he was/is now.

Thank you, GC. It's getting tiring hearing everyone talk about Chris Brown when (1) Brown has retracted his comments about wanting a trade and says he wants to be a Titan and (2) both head coach Jeff Fisher and GM Floyd Reese seem very adamant of Brown stayin in Tennessee to be their starting tailback. Maybe some more rumblings happen down the road, but right now, Brown doesn't appear to be an option at all based on what's being said.
