Frerotte Released
R
The 36-year-old Frerotte filled in for the injured Marc Bulger on a frequent basis in 2007, making three starts and appearing in eight games. He completed 94 of 167 passes for 1,014 yards, with seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His last stint as a regular starter came for the Miami Dolphins in 2005, as Frerotte threw for 2,996 yards and rallied the Dolphins to six consecutive victories at the end of the season. But the Dolphins released him after signing Daunte Culpepper, and he signed with the Rams to play for Linehan, who had been his offensive coordinator in Miami and a prior stint with the Minnesota Vikings.
Selected in the seventh round of the 1994 draft by the Washington Redskins, Frerotte ultimately beat out No. 3 overall pick Heath Shuler, and he was selected to the Pro Bowl after the ‘96 season. He lost his starting job to Trent Green two seasons later and went on to play for six other teams, starting playoff games for the Detroit Lions in the 1999 season and the Denver Broncos the next year.
Brock Berlin, who started one game for the Rams as a first-year player last season, could be in line to become Bulger’s backup, depending on who else the team acquires in the draft or via free agency or trade.

Re: Frerotte Released
Looks like one of the players we'll be making an aggressive push for is Todd Collins.

Re: Frerotte Released
Hmm... I wonder if the coaches liked Berlin enough to keep him as the backup, and possibly go after a really cheap 3rd stringer or a QB in the late rounds of the draft.
I'd feel more comfortable with a good vet behind Bulger however.

Wow. This saves us money. I say Collins should now be our back up if he doesnt ask for much

Re: Frerotte Released
I say draft Colt Brennan and he could be a backup, unless he is what everyone says (a system product),Give the man a chance.

Re: Frerotte Released
Brock Berlin is not the answer as Bulger's back-up. This should make things very interesting as far as who/whom we go after.
I know Frerotte played in very adverse conditions with our O-line injury riddled but come on all the INTS and that fumbled snap at the end of the game against the SeaBags. I won't miss him.

Re: Frerotte Released
Some of us here say everyone is a good pick up, even if we haven't seen him play one second.
I'm lukewarm on this. If we have to depend on Brock Berlin or Gus we would have been in trouble anyway because that would mean Bulger has gone down AGAIN and that our O line has been decimated AGAIN.

Re: Frerotte Released
He has great accuracy, knows how to run a complex system, and has the confidence that a qb needs to play in this league. The only problem I have with Colt is that he has a tendincy to blame others when things start to go wrong, but as a back-up I feel he will have time to mature and get past that.
