Re: General Manager search..
It seems that the Rams are looking for more of an executive level scout, as opposed to a team architect. I'm on board with that approach, given the immense number of years of experience possessed by the Rams' new coaching staff. Clearly, there will be input from many people, and (regardless of the spin) Jeff Fisher will have the biggest vote.
Re: General Manager search..
True. I can see why that would be a good idea and I would completely be on board for that. Fisher and the new GM can help build the team together (architect-wise), with Fisher having a lot of say in it. Demoff can take care of most of the salary cap mathematics and salary cap stuff. So I would love for us to have a GM that has high experience in scouting and picking up probowl caliber players in his history.
I don't have much knowledge on this GM situation though. Are Clinkscales and Snead more of a Executive Level Scout or Team Architect. If they are more of a Team Architect, which one of our candidates that we might hire are the scout type. I would like to look them up a little (who they were executive level scouts for, what players they had say in drafting/picking up, etc..)
Re: General Manager search..
They're both relatively young (40s) guys who came up in the scouting departments, so I'd say they fit the "executive scout" category.
Re: General Manager search..
Whoever it is will just be a figure head. Job security for him. If it goes south it will all be on Fisher.
Re: General Manager search..
I like Clinkscales or Snead as well.

I don't agree with that statement.
The role of scouting is very important, and we need a top notch person to head that aspect of the organization. The person who gets the job certainly won't have final say on personnel moves, but I don't think he will be a mere figurehead.
Re: General Manager search..
Yeah I think Fisher has been voicing about how the GM will have power.
Re: General Manager search..
The only logical hire is Avenger. The problem is persuading him to take the massive pay cut.
If Av isnt available, anyone else that Fisher can work well with is fine with me.
ramming speed to all
general counsel
Re: General Manager search..
Either Snead or Clinkscales would be nice hires. Clinkscales I am sort of leaning over too right now because he's the guy who drafted D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Nick Mangold (same draft, both pro bowlers - 2006) and the future hall of famer in Darrelle Revis.

So is Fisher going to have final say on personel decisions?
I could see it being a collective agreement, on decisions such as FA signings and Draft Picks, between all involved because the experience and lack of ego.
Re: General Manager search..
When can we actually start poaching other teams staff ??
I've read a bit about both, Clinkscales seems to get alot of love from others in regards to his ability. Im sure whomever we get, if it gets Stan & Jeff's approval, we should be good to go.

I thinks it's clear that everything is Fisher's call. I think that's why he's here.

How is that clear? All I've heard or read is that Fisher wanted a situation where a 3rd party (ie. Uncle Stan) would be able to arbitrate any personnel disagreements with a GM.

Let's pause and think about the significance of that statement. And to help in our pondering of that statement, let me make this addition.......Jay Zygmunt.
