Georgia on my mind.....
GEORGIA FRONTIERE: 1927-2008
"You'll be missed, but never forgotten"
Georgia Frontiere, owner of the National Football league's Saint Louis Rams, passed away in Los Angeles January 18, 2008. She had been hospitalized for several months with breast cancer.
Frontiere, 80, was principle owner of the Rams since inheriting the team from her husband Carroll Rosenbloom in 1979. Georgia was one of the few active female owners of a major professional franchaise. She is survived by two children, son Dale (Chip) and daughter Lucia Rodriguez, six grandchildren, and Earle Weatherwax, her companion for 19 years.
Under Georgia's reign, the Rams were based in Los Angeles from 1979 to 1995, When Frontiere relocated the team to Saint Louis, her hometown.
The Saint Louis Rams were Superbowl Champions for the 1999 season and NFC Champions for the 2001 season.
Georgia Frontiere will be honored today with a dedication of a street in front on the Edward Jones Dome, to be renamed 'GEORGIA WAY'.
Georgia Frontiere will be added to the 'Ring of Fame' during the halftime memorial ceremony of today's game.
