    Gerald Rivers

Anybody know what the heck happened here? Rivers looked like a player on the rise during the pre-season. Obviously, Robert Quinn has blossomed to out of this world status, and unless he got injured there certainly was no playing time to be had there, but how about as a back-up or situational pass rusher? I'm baffled at this one, anyone with more information?

We had to make a roster move to get a kick returner active with Austin hurt and it exposed Rivers.

considering how Defensive end is one of our strong positions, Quinn, Long, Hayes and Sims, he probably wouldnt have been getting any playing time in the near future, bar injuries.

If Fisher really liked Rivers upside and attitude i highly doubt that he would have released him for a punt returner for a game or two. Pead returned kicks, someone else could have returned punts (ie givens). As strong as we are at defensive end, that position is always in demand and guys get hurt. My best is that something happened behind the scenes, possibly attitude, possibly drug related, who knows. I sure would like to know.

Not sure about anything happening behind the scenes. But in Fishers Monday presser he was specifically asked about Rivers and said exactly what I posted. They had to get a returner with Austin out and took the chance they could get Rivers back and it backfired on them.

I haven't seen him signed by anyone else, so if he's worthy, he could be back. Surprised me too when I heard it.

Correction: I just saw he was claimed by the Jags off waivers.

    Go Rams!
