Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
Givens, Jenkins return to practice
2 hours ago • By Jim Thomas jthomas@post-dispatch.com 314-340-8197
Wide receiver Chris Givens and cornerback Janoris Jenkins were out of coach Jeff Fisher’s doghouse and back on the practice field Wednesday at Rams Park.
“They’ve rejoined the program and the issues are behind them, been addressed, and they’re back on the practice field,” Fisher said.
But he didn’t commit to saying the two would return to the starting lineup this week against the New York Jets.
“They’ll play,” Fisher said.
Givens and Jenkins were benched Sunday in San Francisco for violating team rules.
INJURY UPDATE
For one of the few times all season, everyone on the 53-man roster and the practice squad took part in practice. The team’s official injury report listed only three names: WR Austin Pettis (toe), DE Eugene Sims (knee), and S Darian Stewart (knee) were all listed as limited.
The Rams have yet to fill the roster spot created by the Saturday release of defensive tackle Kellen Heard, so their roster stays at 52, or one under the limit.
It’s possible that spot could go to center Scott Wells, who is in his second week of practice as he attempts to return from a foot injury. He does not count on the 53-man roster for this week and next because of his injured reserve/designated for return status. But the Rams can activate him at any time.

Re: Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
Somehow I missed the reason why Givens & Jenkins were in the dog house in the first place. What team rules violation got these two rookies there? As Coach Fisher said, that's over now and it's business as usual ... but I'm curious on this one.
Thanks

Re: Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
Both Givens and Jenkins blew off practice last Tuesday and were suspended because of it. Let's hope that's the last time that happens. Both guys had character concerns coming out of college(Jenkins were well documented Givens not so much).
We need both guys going forward and I'm really excited to see what our receiving corps look like with both Givens and Amendola getting plenty of snaps.

Re: Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
Meanwhile, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has details on why Rams coach Jeff Fisher punished rookies Janoris Jenkins and Chris Givens by preventing them from playing against the ***** in Week 10. He cites sources saying Jenkins, Givens and defensive linemen Kellen Heard either missed curfew or showed up late to a meeting after a night of partying. Heard was released from the team. Jenkins and Givens, as promising draft choices, will get another chance. Both have resumed practicing with the team. Both are expected to play against the New York Jets.
Pretty much a bonehead move by those three, cost Heard a job.Semper Fi

Re: Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
That was the speculation on it... something to do with missed practice;
But Fisher doesn't pee in his own pool like Rex Ryan does... so I think the missed practice thing was just rumor started by journalists fishing for something.
I like the closed house: keeping it in the family is a sign of respect, even while doling out punishment. "Saving face" is a hugely underrated psychological tool. Can't tell you how many times keeping that in mind has helped resolve a dispute, or make a mediation successful.

Re: Givens, Jenkins Return To Practice
On the radio they were saying it was definately not a curfew issue. Then they kept hinting around they were smoking in the hotel room... Lol maybe they had a stripper bring over some of that medicinal kush, and they had a party. Idk but thats what i heard minus the stripper
