Wilkins Signs Four-Year Deal

The man they call Money just got a little bit more. Kicker Jeff Wilkins signed a four-year contract extension with the Rams on Wednesday.

Wilkins has proved to be one of the most consistent kickers in the league since arriving in St. Louis in 1997. He signed his second contract with the Rams in 2001, taking him through the end of this season.
Wilkins is in his 12th season out of Youngstown State and this contract could be the one that allows him to finish his career as a Ram.

At 33, Wilkins has yet to lose much of the power in his strong right leg. He is 11-of-13 on field goals and perfect on 23 extra point attempts this season.

Wilkins holds nearly every franchise record for kickers, including the longest field goal (57 yards) and scoring (928 points). He also ranks among the best kickers ever, ranking first in most extra points made in a season (64 in 1999) and tied for first for most field goals made in a season (39, also in 1999).

Aside from his kicking prowess, Wilkins has further endeared himself to teammates, coaches and fans through his non-kicker personality. Many kickers are viewed as quirky and eccentric. Wilkins has been the consummate teammate and was even voted a team captain in 2004, an honor rarely bestowed on a kicker.

Money has signed a new 4 year deal. He was scheduled to be a free agent at the end of this year. terms were not disclosed. I really love wilkins. If only he was one yard longer on the kick vs. carolina in the playoffs...

He is a big game kicker who has proven his tackling toughness time and time again. He is only 33 which is fine for a kicker.
