Good News Regarding SJAX
PER TMZ:
NFL Star - No Domestic Violence Charges
Steven Jackson, the starting running back for the St. Louis Rams, is officially off the hook after his baby mama accused him of beating her while she was 9 months pregnant with his child.
Las Vegas police tell us there's simply not enough evidence to move forward with the case.
Cops say they spoke with Supriya Harris, Jackson and witnesses before closing the case.

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
While I hope this is true I tend to not trust sources that use the phrase "his baby mama."

Can't say I'm surprised. The whole thing sounded dubious, at best, to me from the start.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I ain't saying she's a gold digger...
It's good S Jax is cleared, I was shocked to hear the accusations, considering his reputation both on and off the field.
This would have really set our team back, hopefully we can put all of this behind us.

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
She'll probably file a civil lawsuit now, alleging assault and battery (common law tort claims, as opposed to criminal charges). In the end, Jackson will likely settle the case quietly to avoid unnecessary publicity.
None of this will impact his status with the team or the league.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

ESPN Confirms:
Police find lack of evidence in case against St. Louis Rams RB Steven Jackson
LAS VEGAS -- Police say they found a lack of evidence that St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson beat a girlfriend who was nine months pregnant with the couple's child at his Las Vegas home last year.
Las Vegas police Officer Barbara Morgan said Tuesday that detectives talked to everyone involved, the investigation is complete and the case is closed.
Morgan says there's insufficient evidence to seek criminal charges. She says a police report filed in LaPlace, La., by Supriya Harris, 29, of Mableton, Ga., won't be immediately released.
Harris alleged the two-time Pro Bowl running back "flung" her against a door in March 2009.
She told police that Jackson later urged her to tell a hospital nurse she fell in the shower.
Jackson issued a statement Jan. 28 calling the accusations untrue and hurtful.

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
This is great news. Although worrysome, I had my doubts that the allegations were true. The best part about this is the fact that they talked to everyone involved and also found that there was no evidence to support him doing that. It puts my mind at ease knowing that not only was justice served but now we can just move on and not worry whether or not he'll be back with the team because of a suspension or something like that.

Always and Forever a fan of the St. Louis Rams

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
While i agree this is good news, i point out that the legal significance is that no "criminal" charges are being filed. That does not mean that jackson didnt do it and it doesnt mean that there will not be a civil case. What it means is that the prosecutors didnt believe that there was evidence that would enable them to PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it.
A civil case is different (proof by a preponderance of the evidence, not beyond a reasonable doubt). I agree that there is likely to be a lawsuit and that there may well be a settlement, but from my perspective, this whole thing started because the parties couldnt reach a settlement and the value of the no publicity was much greater before the story broke initially, since a good deal of the damage has already been done.
In short, good news, but the story isnt over. As it relates to the Rams, the issue is one of distraction for jackson. As long as this drags on, it cant possibly help his focus on the field. Not saying it will hurt, but he is only human, and this sure cant help.

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
Exactly. I hope this gal does not put a ball and chain on Jax' ankle. Her attorney, of course, will certainly try to convince and guide her $tep by $tep towards a favorable conclusion.
I also hope this doesn't affect -- too much -- the future of the child. Too many little illegitimate babies end up being victims of such scandals sooner or later. The NFL is probably trying to create better 'BE A MAN 101' educational support classes for its players (especially for the rookies). Many need these courses with utmost and trascending importance.
All the best to SJ and the Rams.

Re: Good News Regarding SJAX
Good news. The last thing Jackson needed was a law suit filed of some sort, which would eventually lead to a suspension.
