Great news for Rams- Giants beat skins 24-17

Mods, move this post wherever you want, but GREAT news for the Rams tonight, the fighting Eli's just beat the Redskins. That is a HUGE loss for the skins, playing at home, in what was a very winnable game for them. Onward and upward to the top of the draft for the Rams with the Redskins #1 pick!

According to Nick Wagoner, if the draft were tomorrow, the Rams would pick 2nd!

    This is too fun!

Redskins remaining games are KC at home, at atlanta, Dallas at home and at Giants. Wide range of variability in those four games. Big wins today for Atlanta and Jacksonville and Minny, and that Minny tie against Green Bay is looking a lot better than a loss. Let's hope that the Skins really go into the tank from this point on.

We are all going to have to start serious collateral cheering for the teams competing with the skins, ie minny, cleveland, jacksonville, tampa (except the game that they play against us), atlanta, oakland, any other four win teams, i am sure i am missing some. The best results for us are losses in every game for the skins, but wins for the other bottom feeder teams are also impactful in a positive way for the Rams since draft position is obviously relative to the results of others.

This is so crazy. The Giants and Jaguars getting going has really made this whole situation impossible to predict. I love it! We're in the Matthews sweepstakes for sure now, or we could auction off the Clowney pick and do this all over again.

The biggest wildcard in the entire situation is the Falcons. Just about all of the other teams in this situation need qb's. The question is whether the Falcons prefer Clowney or Matthews. My office is filled with falcons fans and they are split down the middle. Of course, some of them want to trade out of the pick, and that is always another possibility.

At the end of the day, the very best result for the Rams is to maximize our optionality, and that happens if the redskins lose the rest of their games and the texans manage to win a couple.

A Thursday night win for the Texans over the Jags + 4 losses for the 'Skins = No.1 Overall Pick

What would you calculate the odds in week one that the week 13 game between the texans and jaguars would be critical in determining whether the Texans would get the #1 overall pick in the draft? I think the odds would be as close to zero as possible. Rough rough year to be a texans fan.

Lets go texans!!!! I know its still highly unlikely but at least we have a shot at a top 3 selection if these bottom teams keep playing as they have. I think every 3-9 team will most likely win 1 game out of next 4 to break up the mess of tied teams for number 1 pick.

As long as the Rams pick anywhere ahead of Atlanta, who would surely also be targeting Jake Matthews, we should be fine. It'll be fun cheering against the R**skins!

Also, just a thought. If Washington didn't have two late game comebacks against San Diego and Chicago we would be in the drivers seat for the first pick right now. Such a shame. Could've parlayed that into even more assets for years to come.

Since Strength of Schedule was mentioned, and it could impact draft order, here is the current SoS for each team. Since this is plain text, " \ " is used as a separator. I will try to keep this updated as the season goes on.

    Team \ Record \ SOS
    BUCCANEERS \ 3-9-0 \ 0.595
    FALCONS \ 3-9-0 \ 0.566
    TEXANS \ 2-10-0 \ 0.555
    BILLS \ 4-8-0 \ 0.547
    GIANTS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.542
    JAGUARS \ 3-9-0 \ 0.541
    RAMS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.534
    CARDINALS \ 7-5-0 \ 0.526
    REDSKINS \ 3-9-0 \ 0.521
    BRONCOS \ 10-2-0 \ 0.521
    VIKINGS \ 3-8-1 \ 0.513
    DOLPHINS \ 6-6-0 \ 0.513
    COWBOYS \ 7-5-0 \ 0.509
    ***** \ 8-4-0 \ 0.509
    TITANS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.506
    CHARGERS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.500
    JETS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.499
    BROWNS \ 4-8-0 \ 0.493
    COLTS \ 8-4-0 \ 0.492
    PATRIOTS \ 9-3-0 \ 0.485
    RAIDERS \ 4-8-0 \ 0.479
    BEARS \ 6-6-0 \ 0.474
    PACKERS \ 5-6-1 \ 0.472
    STEELERS \ 5-7-0 \ 0.469
    PANTHERS \ 9-3-0 \ 0.468
    SAINTS \ 9-2-0 \ 0.462

    BENGALS \ 8-4-0 \ 0.462
    CHIEFS \ 9-3-0 \ 0.458

Before I removed the stats for this week, they had the fourth easiest, so they will move up to a harder schedule after they face the Saints. If they lose, they go to 4th easiest. If they win, they go to 3rd easiest.
