Greatest Ram who has not made (and probably never will make) the HOF

Who is the greatest Ram player who has not made the HOF, and probably never will?

Assume the jury's still out on the GSOT Rams (Warner, Pace, Bruce, Holt), as well as Steven Jackson.

I went with Harrah, with Ellard a close second.

Charlie Cowan and Eddie Meador both come to mind.

With the log jam at WR, Holt may not make it in.

I went with other and will write in Steven Jackson. My favorite player for the past 8 years, but he doesn't get the respect from the community I think he deserves to get voted in.

My heart says Roman Gabriel. My brain says Henry Ellard.

Steven Jackson still has plenty left in his tank. He'll likely get in the HOF if he continues to perform as well for the Falcons as he did for the Rams. If they win a Super Bowl because of him, definitely.

The answer to this question is pretty clear, but it lies in the bowels of Rams history. Jim Benton was widely considered to be the second best wide receiver of his generation, behind only don hutson of the packers. He was a great Ram from 1938-40, 40-42, and 44-47. He was a key player on the 1945 Championship team. His numbers in his era were fantastic, but compared to todays numbers, they are paltry, and i fear time has passed him by. He was a member of the all decade team in the 1940's a four time all pro including first team twice, and had 1087 yards on 45 catches with 8tds in 8 games in the 1945 championship season. Gabriel was a two time league mvp and a very good answer, but Jim Benton is the best answer to this question.

Benton is a good candidate. // Ellard almost there? But ... no, probably not.

Cowan, Harrah, Meador, Scibelli -- all long term, great Rams, Pro Bowlers / All Pros (15; 13; 12; 15 consecutive year careers, respectively). Meador still holds franchise record for INTs, 46 (547 yars returned, 5 TDs). All of these Rams are part of my nostalgic favorites although I have several more under this personal preference category but not necessarily as a HOF nomination group.

Gabriel was NFL MVP in 1969 (not twice). The Roman General would be my 'sentimental value' favorite.

Thanks for the correction Real Ram. I should have said 1969 MVP and 1973 comeback player of the year (wishful thinking always has me remembering Gabriel as MVP in 1973 also, i was so upset when he left the Rams for the eagles in that 1973 season)!

I would call it almost a tie between Roman Gabriel and Nolan Cromwell.

Roman was the first Rams QB I can remember.

Nolan was the best athlete on the team and if not for an inopportune drop of a pick-6 the Rams would probably have won SB IV.

Ellard has a legit shot now that the logjam has been broken.

For the newer generation of Rams fans, it was SB XIV. ... Rest assured R&D knew that!
