Green checks out OK, considers Rams' offer

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
Friday, Mar. 07 2008
Quarterback Trent Green completed his free-agent visit to St. Louis on
Thursday, and left town without a Rams contract. But the team still hopes to
have Green under contract by the end of the weekend.
According to Green's St. Louis-based agent, Jim Steiner, the Vianney High
product and former Ram wants a couple of days to mull things over before
deciding where he will play in 2008.
"He'll make a very informed decision based on all the information he's gathered
in the last few days in New Orleans and St. Louis," Steiner said.
Green visited New Orleans earlier in the week. He has no other visits planned,
but Steiner said Green Bay and the New York Giants have expressed interest.
Coach Scott Linehan said the fact that Green wants a couple of days to think
things over "was to be anticipated. Jay (Zygmunt) told me he did the same thing
last time."
Green signed with the Rams as a free agent prior to the 1999 season, was with
the club for two years, then was traded to Kansas City in 2001.
Green finished last season on the injured reserve list in Miami after suffering
his second concussion in as many seasons. But Linehan said Green checked out
fine after being examined by team doctors Thursday. "We have no concerns on our
end at all," Linehan said.
GOLDBERG SIGNS
The Rams signed offensive lineman Adam Goldberg to a one-year contract and
agreed to terms with tight end Anthony Becht. No further contract details were
available.
Goldberg, 27, has spent the past two seasons with the Rams, providing depth at
guard and tackle. Goldberg, an unrestricted free agent, started two games at
right tackle last season before suffering a season-ending knee injury in Game 4
against Dallas. He appeared in 15 games for St. Louis in 2006, starting once at
left guard and once at left tackle.
Becht, 30, comes to the Rams as a free agent from Tampa Bay, where he spent the
past three seasons. A first-round draft pick by the New York Jets in 2000,
Becht is a blocking specialist with good size (6-5, 280 pounds). He entered the
2007 season with 104 consecutive regular-season NFL starts, but started only
twice in '07.
The Rams also have signed punter Sean Douglas as a camp leg to help Donnie
Jones in training camp.
