Re: Greg Salas traded to the Pats

Jim Thomas confirmed that the Pats wanted a guy to replace Deion Branch role on the Pats and reached out to Rams and Rams did the deal...

Fisher has always been a fan of bigger WRs and Pettis looked to catch some balls this year leaving Salas not getting time in our offense....

It is for a Late round pick (not conditional and not 2013)

I thought Salas had a lot of potential and up side, but as Rambos pointed out in his spot on prediction, Salas looked to be a tweener who became the odd man out. Once again Gibson hangs onto his job after being a big question mark going into the season. Hope he can live up to the vote of confidence he's been given.

    Another draft pick gone!

THe 2011 draft was just a year ago and only the top 2 picks are active (Quinn and Kendricks) however Pettis can become active after his suspension.

However are draft picks look solid this year with Jenkins;Pead and Brockers

Funny thing is McD wanted him as a Ram and now gets him with the Pat's. I hope we get at least a 5th not sure how that works. Is it based on his production anyone know?

At least we got something for him and he was not cut. He just did not fit the plans.

    Ugh, I really liked Salas.

I swear if Brandon Gibson has another great preseason/mediocre regular season kind of year, they better cut him before the next offseason camp.

I wonder how he is going to do with the pats. He should have the offense pretty much down already.

If it really is a late pick two years from now, I think that's a bad deal for The Rams. I understand that there was an overlap of skill sets with several other guys on the roster but I think he was worth more than that. With a little seasoning & good health, that guy could be Welker's replacement as early as next season. Good character, good hands, jukey & strong enough to get YAC on underneath throws. You don't give that away just because he's superfluous to your needs at a particular moment for a pick that is going to be nothing more than STs depth or some project in all likelihood.

And I hate the idea of Darth Hoodie & McD getting a bargain at the Rams' expense. Poorly done, Mr Snead.

I agree. Any trade we make with the cheatriots should give us a CLEAR advantage, and possibly include the walkthough tapes (that don't exist :wink:wink) and an official apology for stealing the SB 36 trophy.

Re: Greg Salas traded to the Pats

That's two in a row that I don't like. Both Gordy and Salas are better than some of the players we kept at their respective positions. Couple that with the releasing of Jerome Murphy and I'm kinda wondering, what's going on?

I guess Fisher wants all of his own players as quickly as possible which begs the question, "why is Craig Dahl still here?"

Some people don't get how the trade market works. Given what the Rams received, its pretty obvious that the alternative was to cut him. In other words, getting anything is a good deal.
