Gregg Williams anyone?
The Titans extended the contract of their DC Jim Schwartz and Jacksonville interviewed him Tuesday for their DC opening and have not made him an offer yet. Its been said that Jack Del Rio wants his finger prints on that defense. These are the only team that have shown much interest in him to this point. The other day on the drive home I heard how Gregg Williams is itching to coach and probably would accept a defensive back coaching position if a DC position was not available. I know its a long shot but its not out of the possibility.
Can you imagine a coaching staff with:
Linehan HC
Saunders OC
Haslett DC
Williams DB coach
Thats four coaches with HC experience.
We got Saunders lets get Williams.
Here is a link from the Jags sight talking about us being their only competition currently. I am not sure he is going to be offered the postion because Del Rio.

Re: Gregg Williams anyone?
This from RotoWorld taken from the Nashville Tennessean:
Former Redskins assistant head coach/defense Gregg Williams isn't expected to end up with the Titans.
Maybe the Rams will get him after all. The Titans don't want another strong defensive mind after locking up Jim Schwartz. The Jags may prefer to name a coordinator in-house. Williams could sit out 2008 and collect the $2 million the 'Skins owe him. Otherwise, the Rams would love to have him coach DBs.

Re: Gregg Williams anyone?
That would be pretty nice to see as our DB coach. It'd be cool, interesting, and a good addition. However, we don't have the best DB's in the league...so it might be difficult.

Re: Gregg Williams anyone?
Oh, wow. I want in on this koool-aid.
Not going to happen, IMO. He's too good a coach to accept a fallback job as a D-Backs coach, on much less money than he was making, with an average (but improving) secondary.

Re: Gregg Williams anyone?
I have 2 thoughts on this. First, I wonder why if he's so good he is not the new Redskins HC. Second, I had heard he was a difficult HC with Buffalo several years ago, but started to mellow out with Washington.
You have to ask yourself, if Linehan has the leadership to mange this team of coordinators. I'm skeptical about that. Under Joe Gibbs, Gregg worked for someone he could admire and respect and had won multiple Super Bowls. This certainly not the case with SL. Gregg may look at Al Saunders as the heir apparent here and look elsewhere for work or sit out a year and collect his salary. I suspect next year there will be more job openings.
Having said all this I would love to have Gregg here as he certainly knows how to coach DB's and we have some young ones on the rise who can use his tutelage.
Go Rams!:r
