Hard as it is, give credit to the *****

No one really expected them to play this well, but they came out with nothing to lose and played a good game. They were able to take away our big plays and limit our passing offense. They consistently got pressure on our quarterback both from the outside and through the interior. Offensively, they did not run the ball well, but were able to take advantage of some problems in our secondary, and converted in the red zone. This wasn't only because of our own inabilities, but because of what they did as well.

The Niners are likely better than a 2-14 team this year, but come on!!!

    405 to 217!!!!!!!!

    That was the yardage difference!!!!

NO WAY A TEAM SHOULD LOSE WHEN THEY HAVE NEARLY DOUBLE THE YARDS OF YOUR OPPONENT!!!

We made it easy on them.. Defenses will pad their stats against our Line.
    Our upcoming opponents are drooling.

They showed up to play and we i do believe came in a bit overconfident and looked horrendous at times starting with the Headcoach!

That's what happens when your red zone efficiency is simply awful. Their defensive preparation and execution deserves some credit for making that the case.

They showed up, ready to play, while we took three-and-a-half quarters to take them seriously. I am disgusted by our obvious under-estimation of the 'Niners and our in-ability to cope with the 3-4 and protect Marc. We were cocky and it showed.
Red Zone offense sucked ass! Can anyone say, "2004"?
Jackson looked good, but they were ready for him and it showed

    Seven sacks. WTF?!?

All props to the SF players and coaches. We did not deserve to win this game.

We did deserve to win the game.If we had an ordinary, any ordinary special teams we would be a defintely be a superbowl contender.

P.S.our special teams and defence was disgusting tonight. We should draft only ly on special teams only, players like Devon Hester from Miami U. We Need special teams , if only draft them ,we need them.More than offence

This opener was just another example of the Martz / Marmie syndrome. You've got great talent on both sides of the ball but you have two inept morons running the show. The Rams were not out played ...they were out coached and until the bimbo in charge realizes this and cans those two .....the Rams will never be a serious and viable contender for another trip to the Super Bowl.

IMHO Mike Martz is our Barry Switzer

How can you say we derserved to win this game. The Niners played physical and discipline football while making the plays they had to. The only thing that I could smile about from this game was our run defense. Of course our pass defense looks like its back to making every QB look like a Pro Bowler.

Yup. And it was games like this one that were played last year that caused three things:

#1 a lowly 8-8 record that backed us into the playoffs

#2 an embarrassing loss to the Falcons on a national stage

#3 enough of the painfully obvious being shown by fans to force the Rams offical website to shut down their message forum.

And I may be wrong but I believe they were the only franchise this past off season to do what I mentioned in #3.

Although I have been very critical of Martz in the past, he is no Barry Switzer. He gave me fits with the replay challenge of the opening kick, but he settled down and was rock solid late in the fourth quarter with the decision to go for it on fourth down, the time-out call right before the two-minute warning and the play call for the last touchdown to Manumaleuna. He put us in a position to easily tie the game or even win.

Re: Hard as it is, give credit to the *****

I knew this game would give us problems. When's the last time we came out and played really well in the first game of the season. We almost lost to Arizona last year. Lost to the Giants in an oh so memorable game in 2003. Lost to the Broncos the year before.

Combine that with a new defense, the 3-4, and a new coach on the other side, and I knew it was going to be a tough one.

Didn't think we'd actually lose it though.

We didn't get blown out at least.
