    Re: Haslett?

Based on the list of potential candidates for the RAMS headcoaching position.
I would rather have Haslett. I've said this before in other threads but I'll say it again. We need a leader that has experience leading. Of the candidates mentioned lately the only other guy with headcoaching experience is Fassel.
I'll take a pass on Fassel, he doesn't and never did impress me. I'm don't want an OC or DC or any other lower level of coaching taking over this team.

    Just one man's opinion.....J. H. A. P.

    Re: Haslett?

We finally have a "football guy" running the show. I have whined and sniveled for years about Georgia's boys John Shaw and Jay. They're GONE!!! So now I'll defer to Billy D. If he thinks JH is the guy, then I'm all for it .. If not, then I'll back the guy he chooses.

I'm all for it if Devaney thinks that he is the right person. We are still rebuilding. If we blow it next year, we can have a top pick (again) and remove the Haz of his position.

I'm all for another year of the Haz if Devaney believes he is the right person. However, the Haz BETTER bring in the right personel.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

    Re: Haslett?

Haslett for two years, or until the team is sold. He may be the guy in the long run, but for me he is the guy for this short term until ownership is decided for the longterm. Garrett ?? Frazier ?? Spagnola ?? Could be the Mike White, could be the next LINEHAN !!!

But will Haz bring in those guys if his job is on the line right now? We're facing a two-plus year rebuilding project if we want to do this correctly. Haz doesn't have two-plus years. He needs to show wins immediately. This difference in priorities could be very harmful, and set the franchise back even further.

    Re: Haslett?

I will take Haslett back, but only with Martz as OC and an outsider to run the defense.

    Re: Haslett?

I only warmed to this idea because it might bring Martz back, apart from that, i really don't want Haslett back

wow.....I gotta tell the guys on my Falcons board how many of you actually want Jim Haslett back - I don't think they will believe me.....right now it looks like about 50% of you either want Haslett back or would be "OK" with it......

    hard to believe.

Hell no. Like I've said hundreds of times. When a patient has cancer, you just don't cut out certain parts, leave the rest, and cross your fingers that it doesn't spread again. This team needs a complete clean break from the Linehan era and I really don't see how Haslett isn't a part of that. He ran one of the worst defenses for 2+ seasons and then went 2-11 with an 11 game losing streak as head coach. He's as much to blame for the recent failures as Linny, Shaw, or Zagmutt.

    Re: Haslett?

No, no, no and NO! Under Haslett's watch, we've had 2 years of the worst defense ever fielded by a Ram's team. If the guys in the locker room wanted him to stay so much, maybe they should have played better in at least 6 of their 10 losses (in a row) under Haslett instead of passing around a petition asking management to keep him. Stop whining, and go out and earn those paychecks.

As for the sale of the team, keeping Haslett because the team is for sale anyway is like giving up. If he is chosen, I will support him (grudgingly), but I won't be willing to give him much room for error. I'm not ready to see us spin our wheels for 2 or 3 more years while we give Haslett a chance. Does hiring one of the remaining candidates ensure us of forward progress? No, but it shows an effort to move us away from where we've been for the last few years.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!
