Haslett blames jackson’s injury on his holdout

HASLETT BLAMES JACKSON’S INJURY ON HIS HOLDOUT
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 20, 2008, 7:20 p.m.
Quote:
St. Louis running back Steven Jackson will miss his fourth game in the last five weeks on Sunday when he sits out the Rams’ game against the Bears with a thigh injury.

Rams coach Jim Haslett says Jackson’s training camp holdout is to blame.

“Guys don’t go to training camp, and when they come back, they either pull a hip flexor, groin, something, and you hope it’s nothing major that keeps them out,” Haslett said. “You hope it’s one of those one-week injuries, four or five days and they come back, but it happens all the time. … That goes back to when I was playing. Guys that don’t go to training camp get hurt.”

Jackson, who was seeking a new contract, held out of training camp before reporting on August 20. He was healthy enough and in good enough shape to start the regular season opener on September 7, and it wasn’t until late October — two months after he reported to training camp — that he suffered the thigh injury that has limited him for the last month.
