Awsome news. I feel bad for Jim, but we needed the change. I honestly hope we see Faulk as a OL coach. I believe he could do wonders.

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
Haslett is getting a bad rap. Maybe he's not the type of guy the RAMS want for their headcoach but give the guy a break. He took over a mess and gave us a 2 game ray of hope. With a healthy Steven Jackson we would have beaten the Patriots as well.
Sorry to see Haslett go. The guy gave up his DC position to help out the team. You don't think he knew he was putting his neck on the line. Of course he did but the team came first.
Thanks Jim, good luck where ever you end up.
So I guess it's down to:
Frazier
Spags
Ryan
Garrett
It's either Frazier or Spags in my mind.

I dont mind a total house cleaning but I would like to see Henry Ellard retained on whatever staff comes in.

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
I've been a vocal critic of Haslett and am glad he won't be back but I never doubted the man's heart or had anything less than the greatest respect for his competitive nature.
I think the best thing he did as a Ram was to accept the interim position at all. I'm sure he hoped it would lead to better things for himself and the team but he had to know that it was a risky and, as it turned out, thankless task.
Talk about taking one for the team.
For that, I am grateful, and, as a corollary, for the fact that I didn't have to watch any more of poor out-of-his-depth Linehan's post game interviews.
I wish him well except whenever he coaches against The Rams,of course, and would gladly buy him a beer or ten.
ps welcome back, RI. Probably not a good idea to discuss it, but I noticed a thread of yours deleted a while back. Confucius says: happiness is knowing where to put your poll.Last edited by Azul e Oro; -01-15-2009 at 08:52 PM.

I can't speak for everyone, but I never hated Haslett. I actually like him as a person, and I do wish him well where ever he goes.
We did need this change though, and I am happy to see that we are getting it.
All the best to you Jim, your family, and your future.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
Frazier is the favourite as of now according to Adam Schefter:
Rams closing in on their head-coaching hire
Posted: January 15th, 2009 | Adam Schefter | Tags: Jason Garrett, Jim Haslett, Josh McDaniels, Leslie Frazier, NFL coaching search, Rex Ryan, Steve Spagnuolo
Now that Rams interim coach Jim Haslett has lost his interim tag and the opportunity to become the team’s next head coach, St. Louis is honing in on its hire.
With the team hoping and expecting to announce its decision by Saturday, the leader is considered to be Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, according to league sources. If the Rams were going to wait beyond this weekend, it would be a sign that they were more interested in Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, who’s coaching in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Steelers.
But with a decision looming in the next 48 hours, Frazier is considered the favorite. He has impressed the Rams the same way he impressed the Broncos, who wouldn’t have had a problem hiring him had their talks with Josh McDaniels stalled. The Rams also have interviewed Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, but Frazier is believed to be the man to beat.
Should St. Louis turn to Frazier, he would be the next Vikings defensive coordinator to land a head-coaching job. Tony Dungy did it, Mike Tomlin did it, and now Frazier is poised to do it.

I would be absolutely thrilled with him as our head coach. We are almost at the end!Last edited by Bald_81; -01-15-2009 at 09:01 PM.

This is fantastic news! Now, if we can just land Frazier.

On top of making cuts in the coaching staff, there's a lot of players that need to be cut starting with Bulger.

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
Thats stupid how and why would we cut Bulger at this point? How could we afford it? Maybe we should cut Steven Jackson to just for good measure. Releasing Bulger would put this team in a tail spin because of the cap ramifications. I'd rather see the team release Chavous and Torry Holt before Bulger. Give Bulger some guys up front and he'll be fine for a couple years.
Not sure I like Frazier. I do hope the Rams arent taking him because he'd be the cheapest guy. We can't afford to bargain shop for a head coach.Just Fix It

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
I don’t know what the final straw was but the SF game could have not helped him, and the fact that the SF coach Finnish strong.

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
I would've liked Jim Haslett as the next Rams' HC if he could've gotten a few more wins, but it's time for an all-out change in direction. Sayonara Haslett, good luck and godspeed!
I also hope they keep Henry Ellard as WR coach. He's proven he has what it takes. Everyone else - couldn't care less.

Re: Haslett officially out as coach of the Rams!
Just today I posted in another thread that I had only two choices for HC: Haslettt and Frazier.
Before getting sold on Frazier this week, I wanted Coach Haz to return. Thanks, Coach, for the well intended effort. Best wishes to you.
