Have the Rams Been Outflanked by the Niners & the Seahawks
Looking at the FAs and trades, the Rams seem to be slow on the proverbial switch in the FA and the trade market. The Niners and the Hawks apparently have loaded up on talent and draft picks while the Rams are releasing players, not necessarily pro-bowlers but players non-the-less.

This is the Rams. They have never been aggressive in pursuing free agents. That Boldin trade will probably be the biggest difference making move of the off season...imo. I had not even heard he was on the trading block.

Um... free agency hasn't even started yet. Settle down.

Re: Have the Rams Been Outflanked by the Niners & the Seahawks
The free agent market has not yet opened, and the most significant trade impacting this offseason was made by the Rams last year.
So you want the Rams to be active in free agency, but you don't want them to clear cap space. The Niners and the Hawks apparently have loaded up on talent and draft picks while the Rams are releasing players, not necessarily pro-bowlers but players non-the-less.
Good plan.

"Really?" - Cortland Finnegan
"What is he talking about?" - Scott Wells
"Beats me." - Kendall Langford
"They certainly pursued me." - Jo-Lon Dunbar
"He does know we're gone, right?" - John Shaw, Jay Zgmunt and Billy Devaney.
They didn't call you first? That Boldin trade will probably be the biggest difference making move of the off season...imo. I had not even heard he was on the trading block.

Who could have known we were losing the FA battle when it hasn't even started.

I thought we where faster then most considering we did not let our top proprieties get to free agency. Chris Long and James Laurinaitis have been locked down months ago!

You can't buy a team. Whiners added a 32 year old receiver who will be a number 2 at best. Squawks added another injury prone receiver to their squad that will cost them big and probably result in them losing more valuable members of their defense down the road. Meanwhile we're trimming the fat and building for the long haul.

Re: Have the Rams Been Outflanked by the Niners & the Seahawks
I agree with you 100%. As Rams fans, we can malign Seattle and SF all we want and bad mouth their acquisitions. The truth is that they are two VERY good teams who made themselves better by making the deals they did. Teams that are in a position to win now- as both of these teams are- make moves like this. They don't worry about what COULD happen in 4-5 years as related to the cap; they deal with that down the road.
Defense may indeed help win championships, but in today's NFL you better put up points if you want to sniff the playoffs.

Niners just lost Dashon Goldson to the Bucs.
Little less loaded in San Fran now. You can't say that a two time Pro Bowler and 2012 All Pro isn't a big loss!
