I've had it up for a while. Maybe you've noticed it. Maybe not.

My slogan for this year is simple.

"Every Sunday is Any Given Sunday."

To me that's the mantra that the Rams should adopt. Last year does not matter. Last week does not matter. Each week there is an opportunity to win, and that's the only thing that matters.

The Rams have problems. Problems with inexperience, lack of depth and, in some parts of the roster, marginal talent. But there are talented players as well. There are players who can lead this team to wins.

When all is said and done, perhaps the improvement will me minimal. I've predicted a 7-9 record, but I recognize that 4-5 wins may be more likely.

That's okay.

I think that (barring a lockout) this team CAN be a playoff contender by 2011. What happens in the next seventeen weeks will build that foundation, and that's something worth watching.

Tonight starts the Jewish New Year, and Saturday I'm off to St. Louis for the Bash, so these may be my last words here before the opening kickoff.

I think we all have a lot to look forward to.
