win superbowl=marketing boost

lose superbowl= lose money thru players reaching incentives, merchandise profits fall, etc...

no playoffs, but remain competitive and fill seats and sell merchandise, players never reach big incentives in their contracts= revenue galore for owner (top two teams in revenue last season was redskins and cowboys)

losing doesn't make anyone money in the nfl but getting deep into the playoffs and not winning the big game takes money out of the owners pocket...
