Here is an interesting number for you to ponder

    Jon Alston is wearing 92...

Not sure I have ever seen a LB wear that number nor do I believe it is a NFL legal number for a linebacker. And didn't Linehan say he thought he might be a good fit at SS?? Interesting...

A lot of linebackers wear numbers in the 90s - Julian Peterson, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Andre Carter, Kendrell Bell, Adalius Thomas, and David Pollack just to name a few. It's definitely legal in the NFL.

But yeah, I find this number choice more interesting considering Linehan's comments about trying Alston out at safety. That number wouldn't be allowed for a safety, so it seems to suggest he's going to at least be listed as a linebacker.

I thought Alston couldn't be in minicamps because his class had yet to graduate at Stanford. Maybe the Rams are trying to "hide" him with the #92 jersey.

These numbers are not set in stone - like RF16 said, it's just minicamp. Reggie Bush is wearing #5 in the Saints' minicamp, but the NFL probably won't let him wear it once the regular season rolls around.

Anyone else notice Jeff Smoker is back to his #9 jersey? Guess he doesn't believe in the superstition Martz had about that number.

He was probably allowed to pariticpate in the rookie mini-camp, but none of the full team ones until graduation. Something like that, I dunno.

Speaking of numbers the NFL is actually discussing letting Reggie Bush wear number 5.

I know he was wearing at camp does any one know if he is aloud to wear the number or not?

Re: Here is an interesting number for you to ponder

Runningbacks are only allowed to wear numbers in the 20-40s. Bush is allowed to wear #5 in minicamp but not during the regular season. I hope the NFL doesn't change its numbering system because of one player. Plus it will be weird seeing all those single digit numbers on the field at once. It might be like watching a college game.

Reggie Bush will not be able to wear 619 (his area code) under his eyes with facepaint in the NFL either.

Just don't let him wear boxers outside of his football pants. That went out awhile ago.

Basketball used to not go above the numeral 5 for anything until George Mikan. Numbers schumbers, just win.
