Here is the new Rams Front Office soon to be…

John Shaw has recently said we need to restructure the organization by adding a real GM. here is the deal that could come down.

New GM Marty Hurney , from Panther

New head coach J. Fox, from the Panthers

Tony Softli Vice President/Player Personnel in place today, from the Panthers player personnel.

    Marty Hurney

When Marty Hurney assumed general manager duties in Carolina, the Panthers were coming off a 1-15 season. Five years later, Carolina's 49 victories rank seventh in the National Football League. They have won an NFC championship and NFC South title and have been to two NFC championship games and a Super Bowl during that time.

    John Fox

Taking over a one win team five years ago, John Fox averaged nearly ten wins a year in his first five seasons as head coach. It is a remarkable turnaround, and the Panthers 49 victories during that span ranked as the seventh most in the NFL.
Fox has directed Carolina to two playoff appearances, two NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl in five seasons. In that time, the Panthers compiled a 49-38 overall record, easily making him the winningest coach in franchise history.

    Softli

Softli is a respected personnel man who has been with the Panthers since 1995, the team's first NFL season. He became Carolina's director of college scouting in 2000. During his tenure, the team has drafted players like receiver Steve Smith, defensive end Julius Peppers, and defensive tackle Kris Jenkins.

It's heating up for Fox, Hurney

Observations from the Panthers’ loss to the Falcons on Sunday:
That hot seat we’ve all talked about that John Fox and Marty Hurney are on? It jumped up about 20 degrees Sunday. It doesn’t matter who your quarterback is or how many defenders teams are putting on Steve Smith. You have to be able to squeeze out a win at home – at least once a calendar year.
Also, as long as we’re talking Fox and Hurney, they’re a package deal. If one stays, they both stay. If one goes, the other goes.

All the pieces to put a NEW PROVEN FO together will be here soon stay tune….

    I like it.

But, the major road block is Shaw's close ties with Jay Zygmunt (President Football Operations.) Zygmunt (w/Charley Armey's assistance) has been filling in the role of GM for a while now. If Zygmunt is forced to give up that role, will that render him much less important in the organization, eventually making him the odd man out? I find it hard to believe Shaw would do that given their long history together. I'm certainly not saying I'd disapprove of that though.

Re: Here is the new Rams Front Office soon to be…

If we get someone average level and skill to GM with Softli and maybe a coach with one size smaller stones than Les Miles we would be in great shape. Monte Kiffen doesn't have a contract, he'd be a great addition given we already have a lot of players set for the Cover 2. Our MIC backer is good enough for the system. We would need to bring in defensive ends and a better saftey to give Chavous the boot. However Kiffen probably isn't looking to be the big cheese, given he's 1,000 years old and had all the chances this far to be a head coach. Jason Garret the OC from Dallas might be a guy worth looking at. He's done a great job in big D with that offense no question. We brought in Ron Rivera for an interview before. All of these guys would be first time head coaches however, that might not be something we're looking to start with again. In which case, maybe give Dom Capers another shot with a team less pitiful than Houston (this yea, not the case). If Brian Billick doesn't win another game in Baltimore he might be out...If we get smart guys sitting behind the glass windows we should be find if we can find a coach to work with them.

the major road block is Shaw's close ties with Jay Zygmunt
Not true Shaw on Jay as GM...
"We probably did Jay a disservice by giving him the GM title, because now there's an assumption that he's in charge of personnel," Shaw said. "And he isn't. Jay's job is the same as it's always been."
Shaw said he may hire a genuine GM from the outside to take over the football operation.

    One other note:

Charley Armey retired, Tony Softli moved into the role.

If we're making a dream team
No this is not a wish list this could happen.

Thanks Rambos, for bringing up that quote from Shaw.

Overall, I agree with the move, however, the Panthers' strong suit was never the offense. Their defense won their games with help from a power run game and Steve Smith. That said, with Jax and Leonard, we are set up for a power run game, and with the state of our receiving corps, we could be headed towards a Panthers like offense.

So we're bringing in a Front office from the Panthers? Since Fox has been there, they have only had 2 winning seasons.

Re: Here is the new Rams Front Office soon to be…

So we're bringing in a Front office from the Panthers? Since Fox has been there, they have only had 2 winning seasons.
Here is a lttle more on what they have done in a short time.

Those accomplishments only begin to tell Fox's story. The 41 wins in his first four years more than doubled the Panthers total in the previous four seasons (20).

His impact was immediate. In his first season, Carolina improved its record by six games, from 1-15 in 2001 to 7-9 in 2002. The six-game improvement was the best in the NFL that season and the best jump for a rookie head coach since the League instituted the 16-game schedule in 1978.

That success laid the foundation for his second season as the Panthers, a consensus last-place preseason selection, stunned the experts by winning the NFC South before advancing to the Super Bowl with playoff wins versus Dallas, at St. Louis and at Philadelphia. The victory over the Rams ended a 14-game St. Louis home winning streak in the fifth-longest overtime game in League history.

The 2004 season saw Fox at his best as injuries derailed a promising season, and the Panthers were mired in last place midway through the season at 1-7. Faced with a depleted roster and the greatest adversity of his short head-coaching career, Fox responded by leading Carolina to six wins in the final eight weeks and narrowly missing a second consecutive playoff berth.

The strong finish set up another playoff run by Carolina in 2005 as the Panthers recorded an 11-5 regular season mark to make the NFC postseason as a Wild Card. Once again, Fox was at his best when his team had to win the final week on the road at Atlanta and responded with a 44-11 victory. Then came road playoff wins against the New York Giants and Chicago Bears before a loss in the NFC Championship game at Seattle.

In 2006, the Panthers lost three starters in the opening week but managed an 8-8 record to post back-to-back non-losing seasons for the first time in team history.

I have a hard time believing why anyone would think that Shaw and co. will make sound decisions when their history has shown that they do the opposite..I'll believe it when I see it. dark days are ahead as long as Georgia is around..

Hey don't forget that John Fox and the Panthers haven't won a home game since Nov 2006.
