ramhard - will become famous soon enough
Also means that next year Bulger will probably renegotiate

I wouldn't blame him if he wants a new contract after next year if the price keeps going up like this, and he performs at least as well as this year.

Re: Here are some numbers for you

No question, it's Cool Hand Marc. I would love to see the Rams work out a 4-5 year contract extension with Bulger after 2005. His 2006 salary is over $5 million, and by that time with Turley and maybe Faulk, we could probably use the cap relief for '06. Then again, in our system, there's always the risk of an injury from standing in to the last minute. We don't want to repeat the same cap situation we had with Warner.

Re: Here are some numbers for you

Give Bulger a real good o-line and his numbers will be the best in the league. We have the best receivers so there is no reason why he cant pass for over 4,000 yards.

With signing Mr. "We Want the Ball and We're Gonna Score!" and franchising Shaun Alexander, the Seahawks are really strapped for cash if I'm not mistakin'. What does this mean for the Rams?

Ken Lucas, anybody?

I wouldn't count on it. From what I've read, Seattle actually had a good bit of cap room prior to making some of their moves. The contracts for Hasselbeck and Jones will obviously be backloaded, meaning they won't take huge hits to the cap this season, and Alexander may be trade bait. If anything, I think they'll resign Lucas and look for a DE early in the draft - especially if they acquire at least a second rounder for Shaun - or at a moderate price in free agency.

Re: Here are some numbers for you

I was hoping seattle would lose one of their big 3, but the bottom line is that we need to worry about improving our own team first and foremost.
Before we worry about seattles cap, we have to find a middle linebacker that can make a tackle from time to time to say nothing for a special teams unit that does not resemble swiss cheese. Did i mention that a right tackle to prevent marc bulger from getting killed would also be nice?

Re: Here are some numbers for you

as I sit and think about 99....... That defense wasn't great , but it didn't suck like last years boys. :ramlogo: This defense isn't as bad as it looked. It's just missing a few key players and I don't think they even have to be top tier players. That being said, if that offensive Line can be worked out, Points are gonna double. This also meaning that just a couple of little above average players to fill the defensive gap brings me back to 99. Basically the offense went nuts and scored almost at will, Which this offense can do again, Meaning this Defense would just have to hold together. Just the opposite of the Ravens, when the defense rocked and the offense just held themselves together! Teams fear the Rams after such a short run on top. Get this Defense to an average play and fix the O-line, I don't think it's gonna take alot of money to do it!

Re: Here are some numbers for you

Obviously Hasslebeck get's very little help with the Seahawks so I've projected his numbers to see what he likely what have done if not for so many drops (based on an average of 3 drops per game. Does anyone know how many actual drops there were by Seahawks receivers last year?)

474 attempts
327 completions (from 279)
68.9 % completion (from 58.9)
3718 yards (from 3382)
26 td's (from 22)
18 int's (from 15)
95 qb rating (from 83)

I'm not a huge Hasslebeck fan but I gotta feel for the guy. He's a pretty good qb that's getting screwed by his receivers.

Re: Here are some numbers for you

I think hasselback is very very good. I wouldnt want to live off the difference either way between him and bulger. If you gave hasselback our receivers, he would look an awful lot better. I think he may be a little better runner than bulger, but bulger is a bit more accurate.

Absolutely true, but when you factor in...

I'd take Bulger without a 2nd thought.

Re: Here are some numbers for you

HUbison, i agree 100%. My comparison was only in the pure football form, cap issues aside. I wouldnt pay $1 more cap wise for hasselback than bulger.

According to Stats Inc, Jackson and Robinson had 21 between them (11 and 10, respectively). That's all I know, since they only list the top individual leaders to a certain number on their site.

For comparison, Bruce had eight. No other Ram receiver had more than seven.

I'm tempted to agree, but you have to admit that it's awfully odd that receivers in Seattle continue to have butterfingers. I think I even saw Rice drop some whenever he came over - not to say Rice is the be all and end all of the discussion, but just using an example. I think Hasselbeck is a very good quarterback, but you have to wonder if there's something about the way he throws a ball...

Re: Here are some numbers for you

I am notoriously suspicious of official counts of "drops" but it seems like every week, especially with the game on the line, the seachickens were dropping passes that hit them in the hands. If it hits you in the hands, you are supposed to catch it nearly all the time, even if the ball isnt perfectly thrown.
