Oh Jason, you poor naive fool! Don't you know that some Warnerite is going to accuse you of trying to argue that Bulger is better than Brady, McNabb and Manning. You're just asking for it.

After last year, the gauntlet was thrown down at Marc Bulger's feet and he has responded in a BIG way. This is one Warnerite who has a passion for Kurt Warner and yes, Marc Bulger.

In this house, we have always liked the way this boy (Bulger) plays football. Just looking at him, he doesn't intimidate you.....until he's in full uniform. This boy's as real as any other big-name QB ever was.
The way the guys at Fox rip into the Rams, I'm curious....how's he stack up against Bradshaw's stats?

Re: Here is some stats for you

I don't know why there's currently a crusade to pump up Bulger. Is he running for office or something? It's a little late in November for all of these fluff pieces, but I thought I would add to the stat's for those who are as bored as I am by all of this.

    Rating:

Griese: 105.8 (you know, the guy who barely stays sober? Plus, all those weapons on Tamba Bay's offense...)
    Bulger: 92.9

    Completions:

Culpepper: 226 (one of the only guys who throws the ball MORE than Bulger, too)
    Bulger: 207

    Completion Pct:

Roethlisberger: 68.4 (this ROOKIE's only 5 percentage points ahead of the vet)
    Bulger: 65.3

    Yards per game:

Rattay: 286.7(With all the weapons at Tim's disposal, how could Bulger be expected to keep up?)
    Bulger: 281.3

    Yards per attempt:

Vick: 8.1 (What can be said? Vick's known as such a terrific passer  .)
    Bulger: 8.0

    TD's

Delhomme: 15 (Let's see, Delhomme has been without Smith, Foster, Muhammad(at times) and has 5 new offenisive lineman. Tell me again why he has more td's than Bulger?)
    Bulger: 13

    Interceptions:

Josh McCown: 4 (Josh has so much experience and a dominating offense around him to protect him against this dreaded turnover)
    Marc Bulger: 8

    Fumbles Lost:

Warner: 4 (Is Bulger's thumb broken, too? I guess he isn't able to grip the ball and should retire also)
    Bulger: 4

Okay, now that I've kicked sand in everyone's face, I only did this because I wanted to illustrate how easily stats can be viewed from two different sides. For the life of me I can't figure out what the point of this thread was? Were Rams fans supposed to be shocked and amazed at the stats Bulger's putting up? Has there been someone on here who's been "poo-poo'ing" on Bulger than needed to be educated?

Bulger's made improvements over last year, is middle of the pack(maybe even top half) as far as overall stat's go and if he keeps improving he might EARN a trip to the pro-bowl. Please just stop trying to over-hype the guy. I've got all the snake-oil I need right now.

Indeed. Bulger has performed better than some talented QBs in certain categories, but worse in others. What I'm interested to see is how his overall performance this season measures up with last year.

Well, he's off to a better overall start (first 9 games 2003 vs. 2004):

    2003 Att:331 Comp:209 Yds:2436 TD:14 INT:13 (+3 Rushing TD's) Rating3.1
    2004 Att:317 Comp:207 Yds:2532 TD:13 INT (+3 Rushing TD's) Rating:92.9

Now, if you want to see a "big" improvement, here's the "last" 9 games of 2003:

    Att:315 Comp:195 Yds:2137 TD:11 INT:15 (+1 Rushing TD) Rating:73.7

As long as Bulger doesn't tank it in the second half like he did last year he will have a very solid year. If he stays strong and keeps his rating in the 90's he should be borderline Pro-Bowl material. With McNabb and Culpepper tearing it up, Bulger might be on the outside looking in when it comes to getting voted in though. He'll probably make it as an alternate again though. Well...I forgot about Favre...and Vick. Damn, it might be harder for Bulger to get in than I first thought. What about Griese? He's putting up better numbers than Bulger at this point too. I better quit thinking about this.

Bulger's basically competing for the third Pro Bowl spot, it seems. I think Culpepper and McNabb have locked up two of the three slots. I think the biggest competition comes from Favre, who is having a pretty good year and has been in the Pro Bowl for the last three years.

While I would agree with you if the selections went on stats alone, I think if Vick stays healthy, the NFL has too much vested in him to keep him out of the Pro-Bowl. I hate it, but I think he will go on potential alone, regardless of the stat's he does or doesn't put up. With Favre doing a little better statistically than Bulger as well as being...well, Favre, I see Bulger at #4 at best.

I aggree that stats are meaningless, but it's interesting to see how he is doing compaired to other QB's.

If that's your desire, which I happen to share, maybe NFL.com or yahoo would be more to your liking. Those sites show ALL the stats instead of just tiny, misleading samplings.

I really hope that you aren't naive enough to think that this post was just a harmless sampling of how Bulger compares to other qb's in the league. There was an agenda and it's not too hard to see. I'm just trying to keep him honest because I'm very tired of the Bulger Brigade.

If you think this post didn't have an agenda then why did he compare Bulger's td passes to Warner's instead of against Manning's? No, I think someone was just trying to stir the pot...AGAIN. Even Warner fan's such as myself have quit making the comparisons but Bulgerites continually keep it alive. Bulgerites are the instigators, not Warnerites.

That's fine. I hope Bulger will win a Super Bowl. After all, I am a Ram fan. However, why are some people putting him on a pedestal before he does anything. It looks like the most important stat so far this year is 5 and 5. Very impressive. Bulger should not be mentioned in the same breath as Kurt Warner. Not yet.
